VHP seeks withdrawal of NSA against Varun

Alleging that the voice of Hindutva is being suppressed, VHP on Tuesday threatened to launch a movement if the stringent National Security Act (NSA) invoked against BJP leader Varun Gandhi, is not immediately withdrawn.

"We strongly demand the withdrawal of NSA against Varun Gandhi or we will launch a big movement across the country," VHP President Ashok Singhal told reporters here.

He alleged that Varun Gandhi and other people, who are raising the pitch of Hindutva are being arrested and their voice is being suppressed.

"In a democratic system, everybody is free to express opinion. Let the society make a judgement and not the State," he said.

In this regard, he alleged that several Hindu leaders and saints have been put behind bars when they tried to raise Hindutva concerns.

"Cases have been filed against Sadhvi Pragya, Sadhvi Prachya, Swami Hansdas and others and they are subjected to narco tests in order to humiliate Hinduism," he said.

"It is strange that all those who favour Hindutva forces are being arrested and all those who suppress them are being rewarded in the country," he said.

"The Government also questioned the existence of Lord Ram that too in a country like India where he was born," Singhal said, referring to the issue of Ram sethu.

On Ayodhya issue, Singhal said VHP wants the Parliament to enact a law for the construction of a grand temple at the disputed site.

He said all saints and sadhus have now come on a single platform to raise issues of Hindutva in the country and formed a "Dharm Raksha Manch" with active support of leading Hindu organisations like All India Akhara Parishad in this regard.

"This is for the first time that such a manch has been established in India," he said.

Claiming that nearly three crore intruders from Bangladesh have made India their home, Singhal said all these intruders should be identified and sent back to their country.

Demanding closure of all hydel projects on the Bhagirathi river, the VHP leader asked for 3000 cusec of water to be released from there.

The Dangerous Alliance Between Marxist Anarchists and Jihadi Terrorists in Kerala

Dr. Babu Suseelan

The parliamentary election in Kerala is scheduled for April 16. The anti national Congress party, Marxist anarchists, pro-Pakistan Muslim League, BSP, NCP and BJP are contesting the election. All parties except BJP have retained the generic formula of blaming Hindus. By finding fault with Hindutva in a much wider, more malevolent and dangerous form, the pseudo secular Congress party and the totalitarian Marxists are hoping to consolidate Muslim and Christian votes. It is strange that the Marxist anarchists and the bogus secular Congress party are not interested in addressing the real issuing facing the nation. The real issues are Jihadi terrorism, coercive and deceptive religious conversion, and foreign funded subversive groups destroying the social fabric of India, looting of Hindu Temple funds, corruption, and discrimination against Hindus. The majority of Hindus are real victims in Kerala.

Instead of addressing the real issues, the generic process of blaming Hindus is applied to almost every problem in Kerala. The dangerous Jihadi terrorism is explained away on the ground that Hindus are becoming active. The distribution of Pakistan printed counterfeit Indian currency by Jihadi groups is traced to economic opportunities. Deceptive and dishonest religious conversion by Christian groups is claimed on the impoverishment and culture of poverty and the lower value system of Hindus. Islamic bombing, Jihadi bus burning, arson and mass murder are explained away with phony social science theories and concepts like unemployment, poverty and lack of education. Every important social problem including Jihadi terrorism, corruption, anarchist violence, civil disorder, Islamic terrorism training schools, police corruption and inefficiency, crime, murder and clergy sex abuse-has been analyzed within the framework of the Hindu blaming ideology.

The process of Hindu blaming ideology is often very subtle. Hindu bashers display a deep concern for Jihadi terrorists, Marxist anarchists and Christian crusaders. They are very careful to dissociate themselves from Hindus. Blaming Hindus is an ideological process, a set of ideas and concepts from Nehruvian secularism and Gandhian Islamic appeasement policy.

Since 1950, the Congress party and the Marxists have been ruling Kerala in coalition with the Muslim League and the Kerala Christian Congress party. All these years, the ruling coalition has been promoting Jihadi groups and evangelist crusaders costing thousands of Hindu lives and crores of rupees. The Jihadi accommodation, missionary appeasement and outright favorable treatment are based on false assumption, inadequate information and without understanding the real motive or hidden agenda of the hate mongers who are waging a real war against Hindus.

The successive Congress and Marxist administration in Kerala failed in understanding the real mindset of Jihadis, Evangelists and their destructive ideologies. The Congress and the Marxist government have repeatedly provided more funding for Jihadis and crusaders, more educational institutions, special privileges including Mullah Pension, scholarships for Muslims, funding for Madrassa education, Hajj subsidy, quota system and special job reservation for Muslims.

The Marxist anarchists are now rallying for Jihadi terrorist groups headed by the notorious Jihadi terrorist mastermind Abdul Nasser Madani. The Marxists have affirmed Jihadi leader Madani as part of their ongoing dedication “to finding solution to reduce Hindu influence and increasing BJP popularity. Ostensibly, by expanding Jihadi terrorist groups, Marxists want to reduce overall growth of Sangh in Kerala. The Marxist anarchist’s pro-Jihadi effort was organized by the Marxist party General Secretary Pinaroy Vijayan and his real estate Islamic mafia gang. Abdul Nasser Madani’s Jihadi group PDP manifesto is Islamic. Marxist’s excessive enthusiasm for Madani has enabled Islamic fascists to expand subversive activities in Kerala. Under Madani’s leadership, Jihadi terrorism has increased in Kerala. Funding for Jihadi terrorism training and incentives for crime, violence and murder has increased in Kerala due to Madani’s international connection with Islamic terror groups. PDP and Madani are aligned with international terrorist groups, Marxist criminals, Al-Qaida, Muslim Brotherhood and several Pakistan and Saudi based Islamic groups. Jihadi groups such as PDP, NDF and SIMI cannot accommodate, compromise or reconcile with Indian democracy, pluralism, secularism and harmony. These apocalyptic terrorist groups want total destruction of Hindu culture.

Mass murder of Hindus in Marad, bus burning in Kochi, Jihadi terror training camps in Wagamon, and killing of hundreds of Hindu activists demonstrates Madani’s and PDF’s commitment for Jihad war. The Marxists hail him for having been elected as the undisputed leader of the extremist Islamic group where Islamic fascists can work together to advance pro-Islamic agenda.

Marxists are now burdened with promoting false Islamic claim that Islam is peace. To say that Islam is peace is to apply a misleading metaphor. Islam is peace is an ideational ware that is seldom afforded any currency at the Islamic Jihadi bazaar. Both Jihadis and Marxists are known to indulge in senseless and vicious violence based on cooked up grievances. They most often target innocent Hindus for attack. Self-proclaimed grievance based violence in Kerala is targeted against Hindus, Hindu temples and cultural institutions. It is brutal, senseless and is not meant for promoting democracy, freedom, peace, justice or harmony. Why do Marxists join with Jihadi terrorists against Hindus? They are not for revolutionary justice, equality, coexistence or pluralism. Understanding this unholy alliance is the most vital part of understanding Marxist morality or lack of it. Marxists have no problem with violence, terrorism and destruction- so long as the terrorism is directed against Hindus.

Marxists and Jihadis have choices to make in our democratic system. But they prefer to choose unfreedom, violence and totalitarianism. They rejoice their unfreedom when compelled to act on their dogmatic ideology which is morally wrong. Islam forbids democracy, critical thinking and coexistence. Jihadi action is based on the will of invisible Allah and the freedom of the will has no meaning for Jihadis. Islam has a world view that see invisible Allah as the sole determiner and judge of human affairs. The Islamic Allah is the controller of the entire world in which humans exist. Islam challenges democracy, freedom of thought, critical inquiry and reject differing world views. Both Muslims and Marxists are unwilling to recognize their defective thinking, thinking errors, risk taking behavior and criminal thinking. Muslims and Marxists project these dangerous tracts on to Hindus. In the process, they condemn and blame Hindus. By holding Hindus exclusively responsible for the problem, Jihadis and Marxists refuse to accept or recognize Indian culture and ethos. They are constantly engaged in armed struggle against infidel Hindus and culture.

If Hindus are not to fall into the dangerous Marxist-Jihadi trap, Hindus should wage an ideological war against the apocalyptic and dogmatic ideologies. If we fail in our mission, we are forcing innocent Hindus to seek refuse in the purgatory of Marxist-Islamic counterfeit systems. If Hindus do not wish to turn to the morbid and despairing delusions of Marxism and Jihadism, Hindus must organize, unite and fight for freedom, dignity and respect

The big question: What should Hindus be doing?

In what ways can the Hindus become more involved with the coming election to ensure the defeat of the alliance of the Marxist-Jihadi hate groups? Organized resistance to hate groups is the highest form of freedom. It is the wisdom of Hindutva. If we want to uphold Dharma and liberty, and resist these culture vultures, we will have to reject many of our favored belief in tolerance, secularism and the illusion that all religious dogmas are the same. We will have to see to it that our Hindu vision of the human future, unlike those of Jihadis and Marxists can prevail. We should not discard our noble virtues, but we must not tolerate intolerant ideologies and intolerant miscreants. We must join together in the insurrection of subjugated Hindus. It is urgent that Hindus must aggressively organize and be assertive and effectively mobilize Hindus towards our targeted goals.

Is this Government really protecting us?

Aditya Kachru

7/11 2006: Mumbai Train Blasts. 209 Killed.
25/8 2007: Hyderbad Blasts: 42 Killed
Oct 11 2007: Ajmer Blasts : 2 Killed
May 13 2008: Jaipur Blasts : 68 Killed
July 16th 2008: Ahmedabad Blasts : 57 Killed
July 25th 2008: Banglaore Blasts: 1 killed
Sept 13th 2008: Delhi Blasts: 26 Killed
Sept 27th 2008: Delhi Blasts: 2 Killed
Sept 29th 2008 : Gujrat Blasts : 1 killed
Oct 21st 2008: Imphal Blasts : 17 Killed
Oct 30th 2008: Assam Blasts : 40 Killed
Nov 26th 2008: Mumbai Attack: 180 killed

Every major city in India has been attacked consistently over the last two years.Since 2004, 3850 Indians have died in Terror attacks in over 3000 incidents. Is the common Indian on the streets really safe ?

Did you know that on the day of the Mumbai train blasts, the Government gave Rs 150 crores for earthquake relief in Pakistan ?

Last year our Govt. has given Rs 3000 crores (600 Million Dollars) to Afghanistan?

This, when victims of terror in India have not yet got aid? What’s going on?

B) Is this Government really secular ?

1) When Madrasas are being shut down in Pakistan, the Indian Government is giving them CBSE status !! It is depriving Muslim children in getting secular education. A Madrasa educated person can get a job in any government office without going through the secular education system. Can India afford to have fundamentalists in government departments? Why cannot the government shut down Madrassas and let Muslim children study with the rest?

2) Our Government has given 25 lakh scholarships ONLY to minority students.
What sin have the majority done not to deserve these?

Why cannot poor students of all communities be given scholarships instead of only Muslim children?

3) Thanks to the Congress led Government, out of 36000 temples in Andhra Pradesh, 28000 have closed down in the last five years. Do you want the same trend to continue in other parts of the country? Do you want a Nagaland type of situation in the whole of India? While government controls most of the Hindu temples, the minority community has had full freedom to organize their religious bodies. The minority communities now have the first right over resources. Is this not a blatant violation of fundamental rights of the majority community?

4) Why have the minorities in Nagaland, Mizoram & Kashmir not got the similar privileges like the minorities in other states? Why is the Govt following different rules for different religions?

C) Is this government really making friends or enemies for India ?

Thanks to a weak and visionless foreign policy, India has created enemies all around. By the Home Minister’s own admission : "India is surrounded by a circle of fire". Rajiv Gandhi's vision of a powerful "SAARC" is now defunct.

1) Today, India commands little respect from all its neighbours, despite being the largest democracy in the world.
2) Terrorism has engulfed the country from inside and outside. Of course Pakistan, the motherland of international terrorism continues to be a big threat.
3) China has territorial ambitions on India.
4) Nepal, is now being headed by a Maoist government and is ideologically more aligned to China. While India helped to dismantle the dynastic rule in Nepal our own Government surreptitiously supports dynastic rule within its own party.
5) Myanmar is increasingly aligning with Chinese forces with huge Chinese investments in that region.
6) Indian Policies in Srilanka have made Tamil Nadu burn. Will Tamils ever forgive India for encouraging military assault rather than facilitating peaceful dialogue on their north and north east regions.
7) Bangladesh continues to repeatedly aid and abet terrorism.

D) Is this Government really pro-poor?

The number of people living below the poverty line has increased by a horrifying 20 per cent. India had some 270 million people below the poverty line in 2004-2005, when the present Government took office. That number has gone up by 55 million, or 20 per cent!

E) Does this Government really care about the nation?

The Pakistani flag is now being hoisted in five districts of states like Assam where the Muslim population has gone up significantly. 92000 Hindu and 6000 Christians are now languishing in refugee camps. The government has turned a blind eye to this.

In the name of security, innocent people have been put in jails, whereas people like Yaasin Malik who has 23 murder charges on him, are moving Scot free and gathering their own strength. Is it acceptable to any patriotic Indian?

Can the Congress led UPA promise a non-muslim CM in J&K ? Reservation for a Hindu student in Nagaland ? If so, we wholeheartedly support them. Otherwise they should sit at home the next few years and rethink their policies.

Can our politicians stop stooping down to any lengths just for money and power ? Like Mr.Sharad Pawar, who first ditched the Congress and then ditched the people and aligned back with the Congress, just to be in power.

Don’t be deceived. What appears to be communal is not communal, and what appears to be secular is not secular. It is time we change our thinking.

Having said all this even BJP has not proved to be any better. But for now we need a change. Let us choose the lesser of the two evils. The same party brought to power again and again means encouraging unabated corruption.

Stand up for this most tolerant and ancient civilization and prevent this great nation from becoming a communal battleground. As citizens of India we must vote for change.

"And as per the CAG website (Controller Audit General of India) more than 50,000crores rupees has gone missing from the Govt. Treasury"

WAKE UP INDIANS. LET US VOTE FOR CHANGE.

Persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh

The Amsterdam-based Global Human Rights Defense is out with its annual report on human rights violations in Bangladesh. Here is the section that relates to atrocities on the hapless Hindu minority in 2008.

BACKGROUND

Until 1971 Liberation War, Hindus and Muslims worked together to liberate the country from Pakistan. During this period, an estimated two million East Pakistani citizens are believed to have been massacred, whilst an estimated ten million (mainly Hindu) fled to India.

The new President, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in his first speech to the nation, recognised the suffering of the Hindu population during the war. However, the Enemy Property Act of 1965 that was passed whilst Bangladesh was still part of Pakistan, a law discriminating against non-Muslim ‘enemies of the state’ by allowing their property to be confiscated, was not repealed and indeed was renamed as the Vested Property Act 1974. It allowed the expropriation of Hindu property to continue, leaving much bitterness amongst Bangladeshi Hindus.

Members of the Hindu community have lost 26 million acres of land from 1965 to 2006, while many others were forced to leave the country from 1964 to 2001 because of the communal conflicts and deprivation caused by the Act. The Hindu population percentage has reduced dramatically in the last 60 years.

CURRENT SITUATION

In 2008 Hindus were targeted due to inter-communal disagreements, quarrels over land or other disputes. Hindus were physically attacked, had their houses looted, temples destroyed and many women were raped.

Due to corruption, ignorance, and discriminatory attitudes, the police were often uncooperative when Hindu minorities attempt to obtain justice for crimes committed against them. In many cases, the police did not assist the victims to receive medical and/or legal assistance.

The police sometimes discouraged the victims from reporting about the crimes, or they did not investigate cases before accepting counter cases that led to the detention of the victims. Sometimes they recorded the case under a lower criminal charge than the actual crime deserved.

The ordinance No.16 of 2001 (Vested property Return Act) passed by the Awami League government was still not implemented. The Vested Property Act does not only have a legal implication, it also creates an ambience were violence against Hindus is tolerated.

CASES OF LAND GRABBING, ASSAULT AND MURDER AGAINST HINDUS

A Hindu’s land attacked by 50 armed persons

On 16 February 2008, about 50 armed people tried to commandeer the land of a Dhaka citizen. The owner and residents were severely injured and taken to a local hospital. The land in question had previously been the subject of a civil litigation that awarded ownership of the property to the assaulted victim. The owner filed a report against all 50 suspects, 24 of which have been arrested. The case is now pending trial. (GHRD 19-02-2008.)

Police inaction led to murder of a Hindu in Khulna

In Balarampur, a Hindu populated village in the Khulna district, a 50-year old Hindu man was killed for attempting to mediate a land dispute between his Muslim neighbours. On 27 April, his body was found hanging from a tree after being strangled to death. He had received many threats and reported them to the local chairman who did not take any measures.

Only after GHRD representatives investigated the situation did police authorities change the case to murder. Perpetrators have since been identified. (GHRD, 2008-27-04).

A Hindu family attacked in their home in Narayanganj

On the morning of 18 September 2008, a group of men armed with various sharp weapons attacked the home of a Hindu family in Doudpur Union, P.S. Rupganj, Narayanganj.

Gold ornaments amounting to Taka 95 000 were stolen and the family’s Goddess ‘Sawraswati’ was damaged. Most members of the family were injured, including a four year old boy and his mother, who was sexually assaulted and hit with iron rods and an axe.

After the police refused to cooperate and instead accepted a counter complaint against the family from one of the perpetrators, GHRD representatives intervened, helping to initiate an investigation (GHRD).

A man and his family intimidated by police to give up their land

The Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) reported on a family who had been asked by the Paikgachha police to give up their land without any lawful reason, after the husband had been held in detention for 12 hours on 31 March 2008. On 29 March 2008, the police informed the father of the family that he must surrender land. His refusal to do so resulted in his arbitrary arrest on false grounds of robbery and extortion, reversed only if he cooperated in giving up possession of his land.

Only after intervention by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) was he released. Since the incident the SI of police has continued to intimidate the family, insisting that they follow his instructions and give up their land. He and his family live in constant fear of their lives as well as of their property. Police authorities in Bangladesh often abuse their power, affecting many families in the area. (AHRC)

Family house burned following a dispute over land

On 23 March 2008, following a dispute over land, students and teachers of a Qwami madrasa (Islamic school) attacked a family house in Raiganj upazila. After damaging the furniture and looting valuables, they set the house on fire and beat up the family living inside, causing injuries to five people. The family had been threatened of being killed before and were abducted by the perpetrators, who wanted to evict them from the land. (The Daily Star 04-04-2008.)

Hindus continuously evicted from their land

Hindus of Sonaidanga beel in the Sinajganj district are continually under threat of being evicted from their land and are harassed with false cases to expedite their evacuation. From the 56.68 acres in their possession for a long time, only 28.36 acres of that land remain in their ownership.

Victims have complained several times to the local police and administration but no step has yet been taken to stop or punish the alleged perpetrators. A team of human rights activists including (among others) local organisations and Transparency International of Bangladesh, visited the area on Sunday 4 May in order to talk with victims and evaluate the situation. (New Age, 03-05-2008.)

CASE PROFILE: THE MURDER OF ASHIT BISWAS

On 20 March 2008, the remains of Ashit Biswas were found. Ashit, (32) disappeared in 2005 while serving as accountant in Gopalganj with the NGO Joy Rahman Foundation. It was suspected at the time of his disappearance that he had been murdered by the rich and powerful owner, Joy Rahman.

Although a complaint was filed in 2005 against Rahman and his associates, no proper investigation was ever made against him. Instead, a false counter-complaint was filed against the Biswas family, who were too poor to pursue legal action.

There were many uncertainties surrounding the disappearance and murder of Ashit Biswas, including the disappearance of police reports and evidence, but the circumstances pointed in the direction of Joy Rahman Foundation.

The case achieved a lot of attention in Swedish media because the alleged murderer, who had been granted Swedish citizenship, was freed after 8 years in a Swedish prison for another murder.

DESTRUCTION OF HINDU RELIGIOUS SITES

Hindu families attacked next to the Radha Govinda Temple in the Noakhali district

On 15 February 2008, three houses belonging to Hindu families, located next to the Radha Govinda Temple in the Parusurampur village, were attacked while religious services were being conducted. Hindu worshippers, women and children were seriously injured and taken to the local hospital. The police arrested the two suspects. (GHRD)

A Hindu Goddess temple demolished and desecrated

On 20 March 2008, during a celebration, some men entered the Murthi (a Hindu goddess) of Siddeswari Temple in the Munshiganj district and asked an illegal tax (jiizia tax) from all worshippers.

As the Hindu worshippers were not able to pay such an amount, the perpetrators demolished and desecrated the Temple. On suspicion, the police arrested a member of the municipality but eventually released him. (GHRD)

Structure of 15 Vaishnava Graveyard of a Hindu orphanage destroyed in the Patuakhali district

The structure of 15 Vaishnava Graveyard of a Hindu orphanage was destroyed on 14 April 2007 in the Patuakhali district. The perpetrators have not yet been identified
(Janakantha, 16 April 2008).

No Captures for Desecration of Hindu Minority Temples Narayanpur, Barisal: two temples were looted and demolished. On the night of 03 September 2008 the Murthi of Goddess, a Hindu idol in the Roy Bahadur Kali Temple, was demolished and desecrated in Hari Narayanpur at Noakhali.

A sense of discontentment prevails in Noakhali district. High officials in the district have begun investigations with the community registering a case against possible offenders. (The Daily Bengali ‘Jai Jai Din’, September 5 2008.)

500 year old Hindu temple destroyed

On 8 August, a private Hindu temple belonging to the head teacher of Chaitanyya High School of Gaila, Agailjhara Upazila, Barisal district was demolished, looted and desecrated by unknown perpetrators. This temple was 500 years old. The local Hindu community, including non communal forces, has condemned this incident. (The Daily Samakal August 25, Jai Jai Din, September 5 2008.)

Family legacy and the Varun effect

Tarun Vijay

Those who opposed the Ayodhya temple movement, wore silence over the plight of Kashmiri Hindus, damaged the Ram Sethu and denied Lord Rama ever existed, denied the violence at the Godhra railway station, and embraced the butchers of 1984, are collectively gunning at Varun Gandhi's political life.

Column after column by Padma Shris in the media have created an atmosphere where supporting Varun has become a sin. Why? The simple reason is that the farmhouse of Gandhi-Nehru politics has been broken and a scion of the family chose to speak out as his conscience directed.

More than what Varun said or didn't say, it is the hurt and bewilderment over the loss of a Gandhi to the saffron brigade that has made the media and anti-Hindutva politicos react with such venom and acid. He was not heard, not given a chance to present his case, nor did forensic experts examine the so-called proof in the form of a CD containing his speech.

Varun has suddenly dwarfed the media-supported Rahul.

Nobody has ever heard a dynasty member to say with understandable assertion that he or she is a Hindu. Rather, they have always tried to look differently at things. They banned Hindu organisations, imposed the Emergency, removed basic human rights, never willingly facilitated the Sikh massacre probe, rewarded hardened criminals, made alliance with those who were convicted for murder or were facing scandalous charges, had the Muslim League join the government after Partition. Yet, they are nice, decent, peace-loving, patriotic democrats who love to tell others: 'Go read the Gita.'

When Indian soldiers were fighting Pakistani marauders in 1947, we didn't have enough jeeps. So orders were placed with the British company and supply demanded immediately. Our high commissioner in London V K Krishna Menon, Pandit Nehru's blue-eyed boy, messed it up. The jeeps reached a year late.

That was the first scandal in independent India.

We lost Gilgit, Baltistan and Skardu. We lost Aksai Chin because the government in New Delhi didn't know the exact boundaries and so no patrolling was being done there.

In all we have lost 125,000 square km to the Pakistanis and Chinese during Congress rule.

Plus we had a bad dream called 1962.

At that time our ordnance factories were making coffee machines as Pandit Nehru openly argued against having a well-equipped large army for defence. 'Who is going to attack us?' he would ask.

And people still remember the mysterious death of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, who simply wanted Kashmir to be a part of India like Bihar or Bengal and the permit system to enter the valley be abolished. Kashmir had two rulers then, its ruler was called Sadr e Riyasat or 'head of state', and it had a prime minister. Mookerjee's martyrdom compelled the Nehru government to remove the permit system and the two heads of state.

Then we had the Mundhra scandal, the Nagarwala case, the L N Mishra murder. The Jana Sangh's fast-emerging leader Deendayal Upadhyaya was murdered. A Congress leader canvassed openly against the official Presidential candidate and supported her own choice as independent nominee. The original Congress symbol was a pair of oxen. After the official Congress broke up, they got the hand as a temporary symbol till the case is finally settled. It would never be.

Opposing Sonia Gandhi's sudden rise in politics only on the grounds of her foreign origin were leaders like Sharad Pawar and P A Sangma. Old Congressmen still feel sad that they lost dynamic and promising leaders of substance like Rajesh Pilot, Madhavrao Scindia and Jitendra Prasada, who could have steered the Congress on an entirely different and strong nationalist course. And a veteran like Sitaram Kesri was humiliated no end.

The only non-dynasty prime minister to run a Congress government for full five years successfully was insulted even in his death and his body-in-state was not allowed to enter the Congress headquarters in New Delhi. An airport in his home state to be named after him was opposed to by Congressmen although the proposal was put forth by an Opposition leader.

This is how they treat their party leaders not belonging to the family. They amended, abused and twisted the Constitution, put the entire Opposition behind bars for an undisclosed period and were harsh on the unyielding masses.

Yet, they are the democrats and secular lighthouse of freedom of expression and liberty.

They kept India backward in such a planned manner that even after 62 years of independence we are yet to have a spacious functional airport in the national capital, 70,000 farmers committed suicide in one year, decorated soldiers returned their medals in protest and a movie on our poverty-stricken 'slum dogs' fetches the Oscar. And they loved illegal infiltrators for the sake of their votes -- and still they say they are the inheritors of a freedom struggle that demanded the ouster of aliens.

No electoral reforms, no police reforms or strengthening their morale and weapons, the administration is still run the way it functioned during the Sahebs; and despite having won a well-fought war in 1971 we couldn't settle the Kashmir issue or control the jihadi tail-wagger in the neighbourhood.

Minorities were so well supported in Congress regimes that in the sixth decade after independence they felt a need to provide special crutches for them. Show the 'M' card and get the privilege, became the new secular psalm, further shrinking the space and opportunities for the condemned majority.

More than anything else they tried to wreck the morale of the assertive Hindus who faced the onslaught of invaders for 12 centuries with unparalleled bravery and with invincible spirit to protect their culture and the fragrance of the land. They deserved to be comforted most after a fractured independence and a massacre that was thrust upon them by a weak Congress leadership. Yet, a large section of Hindus today feel cheated and anguished.

They form governments in 12 states, prove they can run the country beautifully with a coalition of 25 parties with diametrically opposed ideologies. And one of their Swayamsewaks unfurled the tricolour six times from the ramparts of the Red Fort as the prime minister, impressed world leaders and the international media with a record of infrastructure-building, communication revolution and women's empowerment, chose a Muslim to be the President and conducted Pokhran II by fooling the CIA's 'eyes', and resisted extraordinary world pressure and sanctions.

Yet, they are called anti-development, anti-women, even anti-social. In not a single so-called mainstream media outlet are their views published, but every news item is scanned to hurl stones on them through editorialising on the front-page.

Still, they are the very objective face of our independent media.

The choicest abuses used by 'decent guarantors of the freedom of expression' columnists and editorial-writers can be collected as a bouquet of India's uncivilised lexicon, yet their films against the very spirit of Hindu nature get widely supported by a regime that survives on Hindu money and votes.

Their love for development and secularism is so deep that they can send dredgers to destroy a million years of faith and marine life because that was Ram Sethu, but won't dare to touch a six feet by six feet dargah in the middle of the road blocking the highway and causing accidents, for fear of annoying a vote-bank.

And then they say, they are the future of India.

Why Manmohan was the weakest PM-6 Examples

R Vaidya

1) Three of his Cabinet ministers belonging to DMK/NCP/PMK after travelling abroad --including to Tax Havens refused to give reports of their foreign trips to PMO.

PMO Could not /did not do anything

2) The HRD minster Arjun singh did not attend any Cabinet meetings under Singh --the mumbling PM could not /did not even ask for an explanation.

3) He was forced to give pensions for Marxists Terrorists of Telengana who fought against the Indian state in 1948--under freedom fighters category . He did not have guts to point out that you cannot give such pensions to those who fought the Indian army

4) He donated nearly Rs.60 Crores to Cambridge[ to celebrate the admission of Nehru] and Harvard [ Perhaps to reduce the Stock Market losses! of their funds] when Indian institutions are crying for funds. He fumbled when he was "instructed" by number 10.

5) He Promised a Terror Law in a Governor's Conference to be over ruled by his own Party's Spokesperson who got instructions from number 10

6) DMK Chief announced the new Cabinet Minister [ Raja] for Tele communication from Chennai—instead of PMO announcing the new Cabinet Minster.

As a Finance Minister in 1991 --his first task was to grant Rs.100 Crores for Rajiv Foundation and was over ruled by PVN after a hue and cry.The same obeisance he showed as PM to number 10.

Reading and understanding Gita! A Christian sister advises a Hindu brother in secular India!

Vedaprakash

V The Hindus have been immature fools and inexperienced idiots and they do not read their scriptures and understand properly.

V If at all, any Hindu is reading his scriptures and understands them is entirely different question.

V A tendency has been crept into their veins that they should be told, advised and tutored by others to know about their scriptures.

V Remember, Max Mueller had to translate "Sanskrit scriptures" into "English" without coming to India, without knowing India or without understanding anything about India.

V But the bloody Hindus have to read his translation to understand their Sanskrit scriptures or literature.

V Thus, naturally a Christian Catholic sister comes and bolds asserts that the Hindu brother who swears by Gita should read Gita properly and understand it.

Namaste , Kasab tells judge, with a smile : A monstrous Mohammedan, the most heinous bomber and atrocious killer of hundreds of Hindus and others, knows that he should address the kafir judge with "Namaste"[1]. Alakkum salam. But the idiots Hindus do not know that the momin judges should be addressed with "Alaikkum salam"! How does the secular judge know the meaning and significance of it? Perhaps, K. G. Balakrishnan would depute Hussain to teach them theology by drawing nude pictures of Saraswati, Sita, Bharatmata etc., to make them understand. The Islamic terrorist has been "baby-faced killer", "milk-sucking kid", "kindling-bitch" and so on. They brainwash to forget the Odious, terrible, shocking, evil and devil that is inside Kasab, the Pakistani that killed hundreds of Hindusthanis.

Baby-faced killer and killer-like baby : The secular media has been portraying Kasab Kasai, the killer as "baby-faced killer"! But note, how the "real baby" Varun is portrayed by CBN-IBN as child-lifter, terrorist, and what not with the sound blaring, "unko hath katunga" (I shall cut off of his hands") that too, raising hands with big kumkum on his forehead excelling Brinda Karat! But Bribda Karat has never been viewed or thought of differently! All Tehelka video editing, sound mixing etc.

Oh idiot Hindus, read and understand this!

Smiling Kasab and cruel Varun : Note how the secular media has been glorifying the heinous Islamic terrorist. Immediately, he may be booked by the Mumbai cine-producers for future films. Or just like Sanjy Dutt , he can come out and acxt in such movies, because Pakistanis and middle-eastern Mohammedans like Hindi movies and love Hindi actresses, as they have been so liberal to show their breasts completely or partially, if required. No haram in sex please.

Z Mohammed Ajmal Kasab kept smiling during his first court hearing opened to the public eye "

Z Kasab was smiling throughout the hearing and said he was from Pakistan ," special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said of the lone Mumbai gunman caught alive after last November's strike.

Z The 21-year-old, dubbed the "baby-faced killer" after being caught on camera with an AK-47 on the night of November 26, flashed his smile at least thrice during his brief appearance before special court judge M.L. Tahilyani through video-conferencing from Arthur Road jail.

The session ended with his remand being extended till next week. Kasab smiled once and did a namaste when Tahilyani told him he would conduct his trial. When asked where he was from, Kasab grinned and said "Pakistan", possibly realising the importance of his answer before an Indian court. The young man is also said to have smiled when he was asked whether he had received the chargesheet.

Kasab has been very attractive, but Varun is the Devil, the Satan : The media has been describing in detail about his dress, his facial expression etc., making the killer Kasab as hero! But see, how Feroze Varun is depicted – the devil, the real evil, the representative of RSS, the candidate of BJP and so on.

… This is the first time Kasab, wearing a grey T-shirt and a light stubble, has admitted before the special court that he is a Pakistani national from Faridkot village in Punjab province.

… Islamabad had repeatedly denied the Mumbai suspects were its nationals before admitting it under international pressure.

… The question about his origin was asked for the first time today since the remand hearings began. Earlier, a magistrate and a prosecution lawyer conducted hearings in his crime branch lock-up.

… The media does not reveal the secret that whether he swore by Quaran or Gita.

A closed-door hearing, through video link, was done from Arthur Road jail. Because of threats to his life, Kasab has been physically produced in court only once, on November 27. This was the day after his arrest while the rampage by his nine associates was still on. Over 170 people died[2] in the siege from November 26-29. Kasab agreed to be represented by a government lawyer when the court asked him if he would like one. He had earlier written to the Pakistan high commission in Delhi to provide him consular access and legal representation as a Pakistan citizen. He has not got a response yet. The Mumbai attack trial was to begin today. It has been delayed after the prosecution last week sought a postponement till fortification work at the jail — to prevent attacks on Kasab — is completed. The public works department, which has been carrying out the construction, has told the court it will need time till April 12.

Judge Tahilyani remanded Kasab in judicial custody till March 30. He said he would rule on the prosecution's application to push back the trial and on the appointment of a government lawyer for Kasab on that day. The court accepted a prosecution plea to impose a gag order on airing and publishing transcripts of telephonic intercepts tapped by investigating agencies, and on revealing information related to the evidence and witnesses.

Threat to Kasab and nothing to Varun! : "There are serious threats to Kasab. We suspect he is a Lashkar member. That is why any maps or site plans of jail premises where Kasab is lodged should not be public in the print or electronic media," Nikam said. The prosecutor clarified the threats were not specifically from the Lashkar, but refused to divulge details. However, Varun has been roaming here and there, that too, shouting that "unko hath katunga" (I shall cut off of his hands") swearing on Gita.

Priyanka jab: read the Gita : The Telegraph's report has been under this caption "Priyanka jab: read the Gita". Really, I could not understand the meaning of "jab"! The Thesaurus gives the meaning as – poke, prod, stab, punch, thrust, dig etc.Yeah, the cousin deseres it. Priyanka Vadra today asked Varun Gandhi[3] to "properly" read the Gita he swears by, possibly making one of the sharpest comments ever by one Gandhi against another[4]. Referring to Varun's alleged hate speech against Muslims, Priyanka said: "What Varun had said clearly goes against all principles the Gandhi family stood for… lived and died for. It is really sad to see him saying all these things on television."

Catholic can offer prayer to Hanuman, the Monkey God! : As Obama has been reportedly liking Hanuman, this Catholic Vedhera has so much interest in the bachler God, that too, monkey God. Sonia Gandhi's daughter, who had just offered prayers at a Hanuman temple in her mother's constituency of Rae Bareli, added: "I would advise him to read the Gita properly and try to understand it." Varun, BJP nominee from Pilibhit, had allegedly told a rally that if anyone lifted a hand against Hindus, "I swear on the Gita that I will cut off that hand".

Gandhi versus Gandhi : The media hysterical headlines, debates and suggestive reports with "westernized women reporters" singing the song like this. Perhaps, we may forget who is "Gandhi"! To Congress sources in Delhi, always curious about how close the children of Sonia and Maneka Gandhi are, Priyanka's comment has apparently clarified matters "to an extent". Still, asked about the Varun camp's claims about the two cousins' rapport, Congress sources cautiously said they thought the remarks were "far-fetched" but declined to speak on record. The word from Varun and those close to him is that "Priyankadidi" keeps in touch with him and that the cousins always greet each other on their birthdays. Varun was last seen at 10 Janpath at Priyanka's wedding. These sources have also spread the buzz that Priyanka didn't want the Congress to field a candidate against Varun. The Congress has asked Maneka's cousin, B.M. Singh, to contest from Pilibhit.

Nehruvian legacy of secularism and RSS : The media has the capability of twisting the issues and confusing the facts, but the poor "communal BJP" does not know anything, but do only salam to "Dwaja" that is disliked by Feroze Varun Gandhi. How is that Priyanka is forgetting the legacy of Ferozh? Priyanka, however, had until today been guarded in her comments about Varun. "He is my brother and I wish him well," was all she said a couple of years ago. Congress sources refused to comment also on the claims that Sonia and her children had asked Varun to reconsider his decision to join the BJP. Varun had told some reporters in 2005 that when Sonia heard of his decision, she told him: "But darling, whatever came over you?" To the Gandhis, Varun's visit to the RSS headquarters to meet then sarsanghachalak K.S. Sudarshan apparently amounted to a family member spurning the Nehruvian legacy of secularism and inclusiveness. Varun always insisted he did not take the RSS salute at a shakha he attended at Nagpur, but this did not cut much ice with the Gandhis, sources said. The Pilibhit speech apparently aggravated matters. "Priyanka Gandhi made a pertinent point when she said Varun should take lessons from the Gita to understand the Hindu religion rather than make comments against other religions," Congress leader Digvijay Singh said. "We would never imagine a person belonging to the Gandhi family could say such things."

Ferozh's legacy and Nehru's legacy : Remember the letter head of the communal BJP candidate? He mentioned his name as Feroze Varun Gandhi, just like Indira Priyadarshini Nehru Gandhi. So they can go on add their legacy-suffixes and prefixes like this. Nehru Feroze Gandhi and so on. Feroze has been mentioned as Mohammedan or Parsi, who married Indira Priyadarshini to gave his legacy of Gandhi and not that of Mahathma Gandhi.

The Secretive RSS

Article by Ratan Sharda
Comments by H Balakrishnan

( A comment by Times of India in today's (23 Mar 2009) report about the new Sarsanghchalakof RSS, triggered off this article.)

My morning began as usual with freshening up myself with No. 1 newspaper of the world, Times of India accompanying to the wash room. I was stumped to find the RSS change of guard as the lead story. What’s gone wrong with the guys? Where had my familiar and comforting news about IPL and incest and violence related staple news? And how come a communal outfit got the top billing? I am yet to fathom this secret. But, I was surprised by the expert comment of TOI that RSS was a secretive organization. I reflected very hard on these comments by the most responsible newspaper of India (or the world). It won’t make a comment lightly on such an issue of national importance. I went back over my years or rather decades of association with RSS and tried to make sense of this comment. As a hapless citizen of India ensnared by RSS in his tender young age secretly through simple Indian games which were on the verge of extinction and a secret to our west educated elite intellectuals, maybe I never realized the secretive nature of RSS. So, I tried to day past regression analysis of self vis a vis RSS. I remembered the dubiousness of RSS recruitment. The simple looking fun loving teacher in RSS shakha had never told me that I was being initiated to a Hindu outfit which believed in Hindu consolidation and nor did he tell me that I would be taught the virtues (liabilities in today’s world) of high moral values and discipline without me realizing all this. All this happened so unknowingly to me.

Yes, now I could slowly comprehend the import of the wise words of TOI.May be the commands were designed in Sanskrit – an archaic and communal language so they could be kept a secret from people who wanted to study RSS?Why ofcourse, even the daily prayer the motherland was in Sanskrit. Naturally, our journalists couldn’t understand it and thought it was a Nazi exhortation to kill non-Hindus and talk of superiority of Hindus? Luckily, I was explained the meaning of this prayer. A simple booklet about it was available off the shelf from RSS promoted book shop. As it turns out the prayer glorified our motherland and reminds us of doing our best to work hard for the motherland for its all round progress.

Why this secretiveness I wonder now? Perhaps, we could have had it in English.I realize now that we had quaint names for simple activities. Like calling snacking together in team as ‘Chandan’. I am told, that the police got fooled by this secretiveness and went hunting for this guy ‘Chandan’ to arrest him after the first RSS ban in 1948. I had my own experience of this secretiveness when the police came calling to arrest my elder brother, who had been active years back in his youth and had moved to Surat by then, after the ban in 1975 during the glory days of emergency but failed to arrest me though I was a young activist giving trouble to police by being part of a team that organized ‘satyagrah’ every week in our college! Yes, we should have updated the volunteer list of police regularly.

As I grew up and got some responsible positions in RSS, I tried to remove the veil of secrecy by inviting press to various programmes of RSS. I used to feel quite let down when hardly any press person turned up for our programmes like festivals and camps etc. Generally, the English press reporters would simply forget the event by the evening probably with more interesting evening activities and the news would never get printed. If at all it got covered the inspiring speeches would be missing and so would be the stirring photographs of massive disciplined drills and parades.

I remember seeing a single photograph of RSS swayamsevaks taking bath on common taps in a camp with a cryptic line describing this chore, without any reference to the fact that the camp was being attended by nearly 10,000 RSS volunteers and had such a meticulous planning and organization that it would be envy of any organization. No indiscipline, no looting of stalls on way etc. etc.! Who is interested in such a boring organization.

Same fate awaited massive rallies of RSS or its associate organizations anywhere in India . I recall a massive Hindu mahasammelan that RSS associated organizations held in Mangalore just last week. Ofcourse it escaped the eyes of the so called National press as no one was beaten up nor was there any arson. May be if the volunteers had behaved abominably with some people the veil of secrecy over RSS could be ripped off.

I am aware, as a part of the young team of RSS workers during emergency, that the majority of people arrested during emergency were RSS workers. Not only that, but nearly 90% of satyagrahis who fought against emergency were from Sangh parivar. ( COMMENT: OF COURSE!! THE 'SECULARISTS' WERE COWERING IN THEIR RAT-HOLES!! THAT'S NEHRUVIAN SECULARISM!!).

But, all this was done so diabolically secretively that our thought leaders never got to know about this secret. They didn’t even study police records to find who were arrested and kept in jails for months, spoiling careers and businesses of thousands of RSS and associated activists. When new born Janata Party had no cadres or organization, RSS provided a readymade organization and cadres to fight elections and defeat the fascist Congress ideology. This secret was unraveled when our dear socialist friends tasted the fruits of power on the shoulders of young people like us and then tore apart the dreams of venerable leaders like Jai Prakash.

May be, what upsets the critics is the secret of the success of RSS. How does it manage to organize such massive numbers without any publicity machinery or media relations? May be, RSS should share the biggest secret of this success. May be it is mutual love and trust and bonding between its members, the nurturing of young workers by sheer love and training by seniors by examples of their own selfless and simple lives, rather than by lectures, the selfless love for the motherland, burning desire to do something for the society.

I am still thinking all this over and trying to unravel the secret. As I think over, I realized that the veil of secrecy has been thrown around RSS by the press itself. It thinks that by closing its eyes to the biggest voluntary organization in the world and not letting people know about its contributions to the society. May be in its own judgemental wisdom it has decided to be the prosecutor and the jury and decided that RSS work must be kept a secret from the society so the harm can be kept to the minimum.

COMMENT 1:

EXCERPTS FROM :

“PERVERSION OF INDIA ’S POLITICAL PARLANCE”

Sita Ram Goel , Voice of India , New Delhi - 11002

1. “ It was the summer of 1959, I [ Shri Sita Ram Goel ] was working as the secretary of an organization of which the late SHRI JAYAPRAKASH NARAYAN (J.P.) was the President. One day an RSS leader walked into my office. I had known him for a number of years. After some small talk, he suggested that I should request J.P. to visit an RSS camp which was being held in New Delhi at that time. J.P also happened to be in town. I was diffident about the proposition. Having worked with J.P. for more than a year, I sensed his preferences and prejudices. But I said to the RSS leader that I would do my best.”

2. “ I broached the subject to J.P. next day as soon as I found him alone, which was a rare event. J.P. seemed to be stunned as if I had uttered an obscenity. There was an expression of disapproval on his face which made me too feel uncomfortable. He was a gentle person who seldom lost his temper. But now he seemed to be on the verge of exploding. The atmosphere became tense. For a few moments none of us could find words to break the spell of silence.”

3. “ At last J.P. controlled himself and said: ‘ Do you know what you are talking about, and to whom’? There was a touch of temper in his voice. By now I had managed to collect my wits to a certain extent. I said: ‘ I knew the proposition would be annoying to you. Even so, I took a chance.’ He relaxed. I also heaved a sigh of relief. He said: ‘ You know that I have a certain standing in the country and a certain reputation in public life. You should not expect me to get mixed up with an organization which is known for its communal, reactionary, and revivalist character.’ I said: ‘ It is precisely because of your standing in the country and your reputation in public life that I have conveyed their invitation to you’. He said: ‘ I do not understand. Could you make yourself a little more clear’? I explained: ‘ Your standing in the country is that of a man of reason, and your reputation rests upon the keenness of your moral sense. I am sure that you will live upto that standard in this instance as well.’ He said: ‘ I try to do my best according to my understanding and strength of will. Tell me where and how I have failed.’ This encouraged me and I said: ‘ You have been practicing untouchability towards a section of your own people. You have never met the RSS people face to face. You have never listened to their side of the story. Yet you have formed an unsavoury opinion about them. This does not sound reasonable to me, nor just.’

4. “ He became thoughtful. I continued, ‘ Your status today is not that of a party politician seeking power, and fomenting partisan strife. You have been a father figure for the nation as a whole, almost the conscience keeper of our people. You raise your voice whenever you feel that an injustice has been done, or that justice is being denied. That is why people of all persuasions- Congressites, Socialists, Communists, Akalis, National Conference people and who not- come to you for consultation, for registering their complaints, for presenting their point of view, and for seeking your advice. You do not always agree with them. Yet you listen to them patiently, and give them your point of view. They do not always agree with your view of men and matters, nor always follow your advice. The point is that you are always accessible to them. You always go out and meet them whenever they invite you. It is only the RSS and allied people whom you avoid, so much so that one of their leaders could not come to you directly and had to convey an invitation through a small fry like myself. Tell me if this is not tantamount to practicing untouchability?’

5. “ He closed his eyes and shook his head several times. He seemed to be engaged in some inner struggle. I pressed the point, ‘ I am not inviting you to get mixed up with the RSS. Nor is it their intention to spread some snare for you. What they expect from a man like you is that you should try to know them first-hand rather than through hearsay or gossip in a partisan press controlled almost entirely by people who are hostile to them. Maybe you find that you have been mistaken about them. Maybe they benefit from the advice you give them. But all this can happen only when you meet them, listen to what they have to say, tell them frankly what you feel about them, and thus open the door for a fruitful dialogue in days to come. In any case, heavens are not going to fall simply because you go and visit one of their camps. That is all I have to say. Rest is for you to decide.’

6. “ He opened his eyes, smiled somewhat sadly, and said, ‘ You have put me in a rather awkward position. But I see the point in what you have said. I cannot easily refute your accusation. I can really be held guilty of practicing untouchability.’ I kept quie and waited for him to make up his mind. He did it in a moment, and said, ‘ Okay, you win. I am willing to visit the RSS camp. Make an appointment with them, and let me know. I hope tomorrow evening will suit them. Day after I am leaving Delhi .’

7. “ Next day he spent nearly two hours in the RSS camp, witnessing their mass drill, moved by the songs of devotion to the motherland, meeting and talking to their leaders, asking all sorts of questions, and offering his own comments. Finally, he sat on a chair facing a group of about hundred RSS workers from several parts of the country. The workers sat on the ground in row after row, stood up one by one to introduce themselves to their honoured guest of the evening. Each one of them told his name without mentioning any surname indicative of caste or community, his educational qualifications, the province from which he came, and years he had spent as a SWAYAMSEVAKA. I COULD SEE THAT J.P. WAS IMPRESSED. His face which had been grim so far softened suddenly, and visibly. Most of the SWYAMSEVAKAS held graduate and post-graduate degrees in arts, commerce, or science. All of them were between the ages of 20 and 35.”

8. “ At the end J.P. was requested to say a few words, and bless the quite confused, and did not know really what to say. I conveyed his feelings to the RSS leaders, who showed immediate understanding and did not press him anymore. As he was taking leave, J.P. looked at the BHAGVA DHVAJA, and observed, ‘ That I suppose is the Maratha Flag’. The RSS leader explained, ‘ The Marathas did not invent it. They borrowed it from an age-old national tradition. The saffron colour has always been the colour par-excellence of Indian spirituality as well as of Indian nationalism.’ J.P. said, ‘ I do not know. I have not been a student of History. But that is what a well known historian told me.’ The RSS leader smiled, and remained silent. The parting was rather warm on both sides.”

9. “ On our way back, J.P. muttered as if talking to himself, ‘ They have a lot of young and disciplined workers. The workers are also highly educated. I NEVER KNEW THAT. In our socialist movement, most of our workers are not even matriculates.’ I kept quiet and waited for him to say something more. He made one more comment as we got out of the car at the end of our journey. He said, ‘ Sitaramji, I am grateful to you for helping me break down what looked like an insurmountable wall. But I am not at all satisfied that it is not an attempt to revive the Maratha Empire.’

10. “ I could have asked him as to what was wrong with the Maratha Empire. I could also have told him that the Maratha Empire represented the triumph of a tough and long drawn struggle against Islamic Imperialism. But I was not prepared for some more frowns on his face. I had no status as a historian. Nor was my version of Indian History being taught in school and college text-books. J.P. was only repeating what most of our historians were saying from their august seats in universities and research institutes. (MY COMMENT: BUT OF COURSE. HAVEN’T WE READ ABOUT INDIAN HISTORY IN SHOURIE’S EMMINENT HISTORIANS-THEIR LINE-THEIR TECHNOLOGY-THEIR FRAUD?)

11. - - - --. “ J.P. had at last visited an RSS camp. He had been positively impressed by the quality of workers whom the RSS had mobilized in service of the nation. And yet he had retained his earlier reservations about the RSS. He could not visualize that the RSS was not a miracle that materialized out of thin air. He could not see that there was something in a society and a culture and a historical tradition which had created such a splendid band of selfless workers without the benefit of any patronage from the powers that be, and in the face of much malicious propoganda in the national and the international media.”

RSS neither Nationalist nor Fascist, Indian Christian priest's research concludes
Fri, Dec. 19, 2003 Posted: 07:52:38 AM EST
Kerala, India., Dec. 19 - The name of the research institution is Sorbonne University, Paris, France. The researcher is Dr. (Father) Vincent Kundukulam of St Joseph Pontifical Seminary, Aluva, Kerala. The thesis for the doctoral research is: Le RSS Et L'Eglise En Inde (RSS and Church in India).

To Fr. Kundukulam goes the credit for being the first Christian priest to do a doctoral thesis on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, that too in a foreign university. He is also the first clergyman to author a book on the RSS titled RSS: Enthu? Engott? (What is RSS and Where is it headed for).

In fact, a former clergyman, Anthony Elenjimittam, had published a book titled RSS: Bharathiya Samskruthiyude Kavalsena (RSS: Watchdog of Indian Culture) way back in 1951, but he had ceased to be a priest and had taken to social service when the book was published.

What motivated Fr. Kundukulam to conduct a research on the RSS was his conviction that the Catholic church should closely study the philosophy, organisational structure and working of all the socio-politico- cultural movements in the society in which it operates, imbibe the best in them, and invite a dialogue on their negative aspects.

The phenomenal growth of the RSS in post-Independent India, with its tentacles firmly rooted in all walks of life, all nooks and corners of the country, kindled his curiosity. In Madhya Pradesh, he came across a European who had been doing a doctoral thesis on 'Hindu nationalism' in the Sorbonne University.

"When I broached the idea of writing a book on my research findings on the RSS, some of my co-religionists cautioned me that the RSS men would beat me up if I wrote something against them. I have in my assessment of the RSS tried to be as objective as possible. It is of immense satisfaction to me that my book is well-received in the church and RSS circles," said Fr. Kundukulam in an interview at the Pontifical Seminary.

The conclusion drawn by Fr. Kundukulam is that RSS cannot be considered as a nationalist organisation in the sense in which the term 'nationalism' is generally interpreted in India.(COMMENT: SO ALSO 'SECULARISM" and "COMMUNALISM" !!) Nationalism represents the collective consciousness of the people transcending all barriers of caste, religion, etc. A nationalist is one who is primarily indebted to the nation. Religion has no place in nationalism. In this sense, Fr. Kundukulam argues, RSS, whose primary loyalty is to the Hindus, can hardly be called a nationalist organisation. In his view, RSS is a multi-faceted organisation which is political, cultural, religious and voluntary in nature and approach.

Different facets gain upperhand at different times depending on social and political exigencies.

At the same time, Fr. Kundukulam argues against branding the RSS ideology as fascism, Nazism, fundamentalism and communalism. He said the terms fascism, Nazism, and fundamentalism are much abused terms in India. They have a distinct connotation in the European context that can hardly apply to the Indian milieu.

The term fundamentalism was first coined inthe context of the emergence of the Protestant movement in the Christian church in America in the twenties.

The ideology of the RSS and the way in which it is interpreted by the Sangh leaders borrowing modern terminology have no camparison to the sense in which the term fundamentalism was used in America. So also, fascism and Nazism do have distinct meanings in the socio-political contexts that prevailed in Italy and Germany which have no bearing in the Indian context.

Fr. Kundukulam felt that communalism is not at all a part of religion. Communalism is nothing but mobilisation of people on communal lines to serve a specific cause. RSS can, therefore, be said to be communal only in a limited sense. BJP, the political arm of the RSS, during its rule at the Centre has not committed any acts that could truly be described as fundamentalist, fascist, or communal. "In fact, one of the first acts of A B Vajpayee after taking over as Prime Minister last time was to call on Mother Teresa and Delhi Archbishop," he said.

Fr. Kundukulam felt that the socio-political milieu of India offers a fertile ground for the RSS to grow.

One admirable aspect of the RSS, Fr Kundukulam says, is its flexibility to move with the times and to adopt the best from other socio-cultural- religious movements. It learnt the rudiments of social work from the missionary organisations of the church and mass mobilisation techniques from the communists.

He admires the RSS for the dedication and discipline of its cadres, the simple life style of its pracharaks, the moral teaching it imparts to the younger generation in its daily sakhas, and the voluntary labour put in by its cadres at critical times such as natural calamities.

Indian society, Fr Kundukulam feels, is in a "vicious circle" with the majority Hindu community suffering from a "psychological inferiority complex" on account of its failure to have a proportionate say in the governance of the country in spite of its numerical superiority and the minorities always suspicious of the majority community. The growth of minority fundamentalism would only strengthen the RSS.

"India can prosper only by strengthening the forces of democracy and secularism and ensuring economic justice to the people," concludes Fr. Kundukulam who is now busy working on the second edition of his book.

Varun was harsh, but so is truth

Kanchan Gupta

The media-driven furore over what is being described as Mr Varun Gandhi’s ‘hate speech’ deserves to be countered with matching crudity: If he is ‘communal’, then his critics are biased against Hindus. Nothing else explains why newspapers and 24x7 news channels should twist the entire issue out of context and plaster it all over their front pages and feature it on prime time news bulletins, while ignoring the basic rule of responsible journalism — facts are sacred, opinion is free.

Since the facts have been swamped by jaundiced opinion, it would be in order to place them on record. Mr Varun Gandhi, son of Ms Maneka Gandhi and the late Sanjay Gandhi, is an articulate young man who will be contesting the coming Lok Sabha election from Pilibhit constituency in Uttar Pradesh as a BJP candidate. As a prelude to his election campaign — he is yet to file his nomination papers — he visited the constituency, till now represented by Ms Maneka Gandhi, for what is known as ‘jan sampark’, or mass contact, meetings to familiarise himself with the voters and vice-versa. This is a legitimate exercise. Over March 6 and 8, he addressed a series of meetings.

On March 16th, a CD mysteriously surfaced in the offices of news channels, which was promptly aired without any effort being made to verify the authenticity of its contents. The CD contained audio-visual snippets of what Mr Gandhi is alleged to have said during a community meeting (as opposed to an ‘election rally’) at Barkheda on March 7. The aired version of the recording showed Mr Gandhi as saying:

“This is not the (Congress’s election symbol) ‘hand’, this is the hand of the ‘lotus’ (the BJP’s symbol). It will cut the throat of (derogatory reference to Muslims) after the elections… Varun Gandhi will cut… Cut that hand, cut it… cut it… Go to your villages and give the call that all Hindus must unite to save this area from becoming Pakistan… Is it not true… that if (a woman) is asked her name and she says Bimla Devi, she is told we’ll see, we’ll think (about giving Government aid), give us Rs 5,000 first… But if her name is Saira Bano or whatever begum Hukum Begum… I don't even know… These people have such scary-sounding names… Karimullah, Mazharullah… If you ever encountered them at night, you’d be scared… I have a sister… there was a pamphlet with pictures of all the candidates… so this child told me, ‘I didn't know that Osama bin Laden is contesting from your area’. I told her, ‘America couldn’t get Osama, but Varun Gandhi is going to get a lot of people after the elections’.”

There were subsequent reports in media that at an earlier public meeting, on March 6 at Dalchand, Mr Gandhi was equally ‘communal’. He was accused of telling his audience, “Agar kisi galat tatv ke aadmi ne kisi Hindu pe haath uthaaya ya Hindu’on ke upar yeh samajh key ki yeh kamzor hain, unke peechey koi nahi hai... Hindu’on ke upar haath uthaaya, main Gita ki kasam khaake kehta hoon ki main us haath ko kaat daaloong (If some wrong elements lift a hand against Hindus, or think Hindus are weak, there is nobody behind them, then I swear on the Bhagavad Gita that I will cut off that hand).” He ended his speeches with “Jai Sri Ram” and to thunderous applause.

But did Mr Gandhi really say all this? Yes, by his own admission, he did say most of it. But not quite the way it has been presented by the media, and definitely not the way the alleged recording purports it to be. A simple analysis of the recording contained in the CD, which was strangely circulated after more than a week, shows that it has 17 ‘cuts’; that the sound level dips to low resolution, and there is heavy echo at the crucial point where he allegedly makes a derogatory reference to Muslims. Each of the quotes have been clearly taken out of context.

As for his call that “all Hindus must unite to save this area from becoming Pakistan”, that a Hindu woman would find it difficult to get Government aid, his reference to Osama bin Laden look-alikes, his pledge to stand by Hindus against ‘galat tatv ke aadmi’, and his swearing by the Bhagavad Gita, there is really little to cavil against. ‘Secular’ State Governments have been prompt in taking their cue from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s ‘Muslims first’ policy. Newspapers in the forefront of the bash Varun campaign have reported how Muslim victims of last year’s flood were lavished with aid while others were left to fend for themselves. Mr Ram Vilas Paswan would address election meetings accompanied by an Osama bin Laden look-alike till the man, Maulana Meraj Khalid Noor, dumped him for Mr Lalu Prasad Yadav for reasons that do not merit elaboration. Mr Gandhi was addressing a community gathering, not an election rally; he felt the people of Barkheda and Dalchand needed to be reassured that he would protect their interests; and, he spoke the truth rather bluntly, perhaps too harshly.

Before we go into the reason why he said what he is now being pilloried for, here are two questions for you to ponder over: Are we now living in such dreadful times that we cannot mention the Bhagavad Gita in public discourse lest we be condemned as ‘communal’ by newspapers and news channels which couldn’t stop pointing out, ever so admiringly and approvingly — some would say ecstatically — that Mr Barack Hussein Obama took his oath of office by placing his left hand on Abraham Lincoln’s Bible? And, is it now an unpardonable offence to say ‘Jai Sri Ram’?

Anybody who has any knowledge of Pilibhit knows that Hindus in that district — in fact, all over what is referred to as Rohilkhand — are increasingly feeling under siege. The district stretches along India’s border with Nepal. Mirza Dilshad Beg, the Nepali politician who fronted for Dawood Ibrahim and was on the payroll of Pakistan’s ISI, regularly used the Pilibhit route to funnel fake currency into India and supply arms and explosives to terrorists. Beg may be dead, murdered by his ilk in 1998, but the supply chain remains undisrupted. Thousands of cows are smuggled across the border to be slaughtered; cow slaughter in Pilibhit and adjacent districts is now a common phenomenon with the administration loath to take any action.

In recent months, there have been instances of Hindu women being molested and raped. This point has been disputed by the Indian Express which says there are no police records to prove it. Yet, on umpteen occasions the newspaper has, as have others, pointed out how the police in rural India refuse to register cases of rape, how families are terrorised into not pressing charges, and how the fear of social stigma forces victims of rape and their families to keep silent.

The ‘secular’ media hasn’t heard of Sonu Kashyap who was murdered on October 21 last year. “Five unidentified Muslims” were accused of murdering him. The administration did nothing. On October 23, anger turned into street protests, led by a former BJP legislator and Minister, Mr Ram Saran Verma. He was promptly arrested and since then has been detained under the National Security Act. Beesalpur police station in-charge Pervez Miyan brazenly defends the continued detention of Mr Verma.

The Indian Express, however, is not alone. The Times of India’s online edition had two ads promoting itimes, its social networking group: ‘Snub Varun Gandhi’ and ‘Join Sanjay Dutt fan club’. It would appear that in this wondrous land of ours, where rules are being increasingly set by a dissolute media, it is now politically correct to be a fan of a man who has been held guilty of aiding the terrorists who bombed Mumbai in 1993. NDTV began by referring to Mr Gandhi’s “speech”, and then switched over to “hate speech”. Who’s to tell our ‘secular’ media it is horribly wrong? Sed quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Thank You Barkha, Thank you NDTV !

Thank you !!

That goes out to Barkha Dutt for reminding Varun Gandhi and the nation on national TV that he is Feroze Varun Gandhi and he is only 25% Hindu as his grand father was a muslim.

That again goes out to her and her co-panalists for reminding Varun and the nation that a 'Gandhi' tag can win the top posts in the Congress party but not in the mind of the nation. Thanks for reminding the Gandhi clan that they can't use the name tag simply to play politics alone.

She should have also reminded Varun that he or anyone in the Nehru family can't use the 'Gandhi' tag as Feroz’s father's surname was Ghandy and not Gandhi. His father converted to Islam from being a parsi before marriage. So Feroz was a muslim. And Indira Priyadarshini Nehru threw the Nehru tag after marraige and may be possible conversion and took a modified version of Ghandy to suit her political ambitions as per the special directions of none other than Mohandas Karachand Gandhi. So the Nehru's have nothing to do with the Gandhi's.

The nation needs to be told if this family is a muslim, hindu or christian family. We are a secular nation and it doesn’t bother us what religion they follow. And the Ghandy family need not worry about their religion either. If Varun Gandhy comes forward to say he is a proud Hindu, who gets hurt?

Why won't Hindus get hurt when the communists run to the bishop to seek his blessings in the election or when the Church tells the Congress who to put up for elections?

Why won't Hindus get hurt when Sonia Maino Gandhy calling Narendra Modi a blood sucker is and a man standing up for the Hindu community is a communalist.

Why Mulayam distributing money at a function isn’t not a national issue or violation of Poll norms for EC, but Varun's is?

Why won't the Hindus be hurt when a terrorist who attacked the nation's parliament is not hanged and supported by secular hum right activists simply because it could lead to communal tensions?

Why won't the Hindus be hurt when our external minister of state has taken innumerable trip to the middle east and has almost always went there for the cause of the Muslim community. He should he called India's Muslim Minister.

The panelists also were shocked that a person considered as an intellectual and a poet stand up for the Hindus. We have no dearth of intellectuals who have come forward for the Hindus including Swami Vivekananda. Vajpayee is a great poet and has stood up for the Hindus all his life.

In this count Barhkha Dutt and her channel will have to line up a whole lot of intellectual communalists !

The People of Indus

Tarun Vijay

Perverz Musharraf came to India and went back with bouquets, but not before he had collected a few inconvenient questions he couldn’t answer,
thanks to a brave Kashmiri Hindu lady. She asked him at a conclave why it had not been possible for her to go back to her home in Srinagar? He fumbled and looked funny.

Now, this question needs an Indian reply too.

There are five lakh of them. Even if there was just one, the Indian state was supposed to be as active as it was to reserve seats for Muslims in educational institutions and earmark Rs 3,780 crore for a multi-sectoral development plan for each of the 90 minority-concentration districts.

Jammu & Kashmir, an Indian state, under the secular dispensation is fast getting Islamized through state apparatus. More than 172 temples have been razed and Hindu properties have been illegally taken over by neighbours. After a gruesome pogrom and forced exodus of Hindus, villages and towns are being given Islamic names. Now, a bill has been introduced in the J&K assembly by the PDP MLA Peerzada Manzoor Hussain proposing to change the name of the historic Anantnag town to Islamabad. Local Muslim leaders are already using it and even in some state government press releases Islamabad is used in place of Anantnag.

There is a conscious attempt to erode Indian presence in Kashmir. Few would know that officers of the Indian Administrative Service and even those belonging to the Indian Police Service are seldom given charge of a district. They are at best kept at the secretariat for file work. The reason is, politicians decided that the local administration must remain under local Kashmiri Muslims.

But none in Delhi is perturbed by it.

Why is the Indian state in no hurry to create an atmosphere that allows a Hindu lady to return to her home?

Why this hatred for Hindus among people who belong to the same race and have a shared ancestry?

If the jihad in Kashmir is the creation of Pakistan, Pakistan is the creation of a precipitated hatred for Hindus.

Sixty-two years ago there was no Pakistan. The people of this part of the world were known as Indians. And one of the Indians said in March 1881, "No Mohammedan can say that the English are not ‘people of the Book’. No Mohammedan can deny this: that God has said that no people of other religions can be friends of Mohammedans except the Christians. He who had read the Koran and believes it can know that our nation cannot expect friendship and affection from any other people. (‘Thou shalt surely find the most violent of all men in enmity against the true believers to be the Jews and the idolaters: and thou shalt surely find those among them to be the most inclinable to entertain friendship for the true believers, who say we are Christians’. Koran, Chap. V.)

"Now God has made them rulers over us. Therefore we should cultivate friendship with them, and should adopt that method by which their rule may remain permanent and firm in India, and may not pass into the hands of the Bengalis. This is our true friendship with our Christian rulers, and we should not join those people who wish to see us thrown into a ditch. If we join the political movement of the Bengalis our nation will reap loss, for we do not want to become subjects of the Hindus instead of the subjects of the people of the Book." (Great Speeches of Modern India. Pp 30-31)

The man who spoke these words was Syed Ahmad Khan, whom the British knighted. He is better known as the founder of Aligarh Muslim University. As vote bank politics gains in strength, he may one day get Bharat Ratna.

It's another matter that his speech didn’t see even a hundred years of British consolidation and while 1947 saw a separate country carved out of Hindustan on religious lines, 1971 witnessed the superiority of culture over religion as the sole binding force with Bangladesh emerging on the map, dissociating with its Islamic other half and getting freedom on cultural lines that reflected more the colours of a Hindu India.

And the Muslim world revolted against the Christendom, whom Sir Syed had so affectionately called the people of the Book, and Osama bin Laden became famous for organizing terror attacks on the United States and Britain. If Sir Syed quoted the Koran to advocate the continuation of the British rule in India, Osama’s people quote the same holy book to bomb the US and India.

Breaking all such divisive barriers a Pakistani scholar-politician Aitzaz Ahsan has come out with his thesis of the “Indus people”. He refuses to accept that Islam is Arabization and says Pakistan can't have an Arab or central Asian identity. The only identity that befits Pakistan is an Indus identity. So he names the entire region of the present-day Pakistan as Indus.

He says, "The Pakistani may not be an Indian, but neither is he an Arab, a Persian or a Central Asian. The commonality of religion with the Arabs, Persians and Central Asians is obvious, but commonality of religion makes the Pakistani neither Arab nor Persian nor Central Asian. On the reverse side of the same coin his so-called ‘un-Indianness’ cannot make anyone oblivious to the several aspects in which the Indians and Pakistanis share a common history, culture, language and racial stock. As I journeyed into the distant past, it dawned upon me that ‘Pakistan’ had existed for almost five and a half of the last six thousand years. Indus had seldom been a part of India. (Preface)

‘Indus (Pakistan) has a rich and glorious cultural heritage of its own. This is a distinct heritage, of a distinct and separate nation. If the Pakistani were really reassured of this he would be confident that there is no fear of any other country devouring or destroying his state. And he would thus come out of the present-day ‘bunker-mentality’. (Pp- 11)

Does Aitzaz represent the reverse of Sir Syed?

Can he make the people of Pakistan think what makes them so hateful towards India? I just read a review of the book "Stranger to History" by Atish Taseer, and he is quoted as being wounded by reflexive anti-Indianism, which he encounters widely in Pakistan, and particularly among the young. He laments the rejection he finds everywhere of a pluralist subcontinental past, and is dismayed by the growing spread of a narrow version of Islam.

Shouldn’t someone in Pakistan and in parts of India where Islamic jihad against Hindus is getting support be thinking what creates this acid?

Without getting into addressing some of the notions in Aitzaz’s book that are not correct, I must say let’s build bridges on the Indus theory. If a Pakistani feels so great about his heritage and ancestry, it must be taken forward and shouldn’t be wasted. That may make Pakistanis and Indian Kashmiri politicians understand that Hindus and Muslims of this region are both Indus people. Insulting Hindus or driving them out of their territory means insulting the common heritage, ancestry and blood. After all, three generations ago Sheikh Abdullah's family were Kauls.

An Indus region, comprising the present Pakistan, India and Bangladesh and bound with cultural threads and a commonality of ancestry alone can remove distrust and animosity. This Indus region will be the strongest bulwark against a unipolar world order and will be so self-reliant and powerful that it will work as a great force of peace and harmony. Bloodshed that we see in Talibanism and Kashmiri jihad begins with distrust, alienation and hate. Cultural affinities remove such potholes. Basant celebrations, songs, language, marriage customs, caste affinities, ancestry, geography, history, everything is already there. Remember that Prophet Muhammad converted people in Arabia to Islam but never asked them to change their names or costumes. Parvez, Omar, Rustam, Usman, Ali are all pre-Islamic names drawn from Persia. So why should Islamists insist on Arabic names for the those converted from this region? A Muslim with a Sanskrit name, adhering to the Islamic path must also be allowed to enter heaven as much as one bearing an Arabic name.

Islam has seldom been a uniting force between countries that profess the faith as a state policy. No two Islamic countries are friends or have ever helped each other in times of crises. Pakistan-Afghanistan, Afghanistan-Iran, Iran-Iraq, the list goes on. On the other hand, culture unites across borders.

Let Indus magic prevail.
