Jihadis luring Kerala college girls for love

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala police has constituted a special team to probe charges that jihadis are running an organized racket in the state's
colleges to lure gullible girls in the name of love and then convert them for subsequent use in anti-national activities.

"We are investigating if there is any such design,'' DGP Jacob Punnoose told TOI. What jolted the sleuths into action was a habeus corpus petition in the Kerala high court from the parents of two MBA students. The students were staying in the same hostel at St John's College in Pathanamthitta district when they met a senior and grew fond of him.

But the boy proved to be a nuisance to the authorities and was expelled from the college some years ago. "He still managed to retain contact with four junior students, including the two MBA students and feigned love for them. The boy wanted them to get converted to Islam. But one of them suspected his intentions and withdrew while another developed psychiatric problems. The other two fell for him and eloped,'' college principal Sreekumaran Nair said.

When there was no news of their wards, the parents approached the high court with habeus corpus petitions. The girls were subsequently produced in court which allowed the parents the custody of their children for a week. When they appeared in court next, the girls stated they had been trapped and did not want to go back with the boy. In the period they were with him, one of them had already married the boy and the other was "forced to marry'' his friend, a bus conductor. In their statements given to police, the students claimed that they were shown jihadi videos and literature by the boy. Expressing concern over the development, the high court asked the police to probe deeper.

"When we searched the hostel, we found provocative literature given by the boy from the rooms of the two girls,'' the principal said. This was seized by the police who have now extended the probe to other campuses as well they feel this was not an isolated incident. Similar reports have been emerging for quite some time now but were mostly ignored for political reasons, police sources added.

The eternal significance of Hindutva

In recent times there has been a lot of hue and cry over ‘Hindutva’. Macaulay’s children who inhabit editorial offices in many newspapers have, in the past, taken an instant dislike for the word, often going to the extent to comparing it with fascism. For our intellectuals, the very word ‘Hindu’ is anathema: they recoil from it. To them, to say that one is a Hindu is an admission of communalism.

Jawaharlal Nehru was one who led the great anti-Hindu brigade. He was aghast that KM Munshi should want to resurrect the Somnath Temple that had been desecrated and looted by Ghazni Mohammad not once, but several times. He was even averse to then President Dr Rajendra Prasad attending the inaugural ceremony of the renovated temple, though Nehru had no compunction in asking that his ashes be immersed in Ganga which he described in lyrical terms in his Last Will and Testament. Such was the hatred that the anti-Hindutva forces aroused that the Shiv Sena was moved to ask its followers to assert proudly that they are Hindus. Garv se kaho hum Hindu hai. At least two generations of young Hindus have been brought up in India to shun Hindutva and think of it as a destructive doctrine which it is anything but, the frequent mile-long queue of young Indians wishing to offer their prayers to Siddhi Vinayaka in Mumbai has another story to tell.

What is Hindutva? It means the "essence" of Hinduism. And what is the essence of Hinduism? It can be summed up in one word: "Tolerance". Tolerance of what? Tolerance of contrary views, tolerance of dissent; tolerance of -and respect for -other religions. Yes, Hinduism has a thousand shortcomings which Hindus themselves have sought to correct down the centuries and continue to do so even today. For Mahatma Gandhi Hinduism was "a relentless pursuit to Truth". "If today it has become moribund, inactive and irresponsive to growth" he wrote (and that was in Young India, April 24, 1924) it is because we are fatigued, and as soon as the fatigue is over, Hinduism will burst upon the world with a brilliance perhaps unknown before". Our so-called secularists cannot stand that. They have to damn Hinduism in order to win the approbation and applause of the "minorities".

What is Hinduism’s political record? When the Parsis landed in Gujarat in AD 717 they were given asylum and allowed to live their lives the way they desired. Christianity came to India almost two thousand years ago and survived. They were not hounded out. No Hindu ruler ever invaded foreign lands, determined to destroy other cultures and civilisations. Asoka did not send an Army to China or even to Sri Lanka to spread the message of the Buddha. No Hindu preacher ever went round the world to publicise Hinduism as the only gateway to salvation. No Hindu monarch levied any unjust tax-like jezia-on Muslims. No Hindu sought revenge against the past evil deeds of Muslim rulers. And what has been the record of barbarian invaders?

In his book: The Sword of the Prophet, Serge Trifkovic has noted that "the massacres perpetrated by Muslims in India are unparalleled in history, bigger in sheer numbers than the Holocaust". When Mohammad Qasim invaded India, starting in AD 712, according to Trifkovic, he "demolished temples, shattered sculptures, plundered palaces, killed vast numbers of men-it took his men three days to slaughter the inhabitants of the port city of Debal..." That was only the beginning. It is not necessary to go into all the details of temple destruction, smashing of idols and decimation of Hindus which can only make for painful reading.

After the Battle of Chittor, even Akbar had ordered the slaying of 30,000 Rajputs on February 24, 1568. Hindus have never sought revenge, It is not in their blood. Hindutva is unique in its inclusive nature and the BJP- and every Indian-has every reason to be proud of it. It allows every individual to follow his own self-chosen path to salvation. No Hindu leader dare issue a fatwa. No Hindu religious authority can lay down what is right or wrong, whether it is birth control, divorce or whatever. The essence of Hinduism is total, utter freedom. If that is not something to be proud of, what is? Are we to be governed by people who are not proud of their own past, in the name of secularism? What a fantastically rich past do we Hindus have which we want to share with our fellow Indians? Whether it is in the realm of science, technology, astronomy, literature, philosophy and the arts, it is we, the Hindus, who have ample reason to be proud of. If that is not something to be proud of, what is? And we achieved all this without robbing other nations and people as did the British, the French and other barbarian European societies.

Hindus did not send missionaries to Portugal or Spain to burn down Churches and impose Hinduism on the people on pain of death, if they didn’t . Hindus respected tribals as is explicit in the story of Hanuman. They did not decimate them as did the Americans and Australians and Spaniards in North and South America and in Australia. Hindus excelled in mathematics, physics, chemistry, metallurgy, metereology and much else and to Hindus dharma meant upholding values, not devastating conquered lands. And what a great past do we have!

Macaulay himself, addressing the British Parliament on February 2, 1835 said: "I have travelled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such calibre that I do not think we would ever conquer this country unless we break the backbone of this nation which is her spiritual and cultural heritage" (emphasis added). Macaulay’s children today are doing just that, damning Hindutva. Hindutva is not anti-Muslim or anti-Christian or anti-Modern. Hindutva is post-modern in the freedom it gives to those Hindus such as the ones who have taken over Silicon Valley in the United States. Hindutva is a value-based and value-enriching way of life and there is nothing comparable to it in the world. To run it down is exactly what Macaulay would have appreciated and that is exactly what our secularists are upto. There is no such thing as ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ Hindutva. To own up to Hindutva is to regain our self-respect as a people and as a nation. That should be the motto of the BJP.

Establishing Hindutva is to establish a knowledge society whose motto is sarve janaha sukhino bhavantu. BJP should feel proud of Hindutva as a noble aim to be pursued and not succumb to the pseudo-Hindutvawadis who want BJP to be the B Teams of the Congress. There is nothing in the world to beat Hindutva in its sheer catholicity. Hindutva is above all religious: it is the greatest liberating force in the world of which all Indians can be truly proud of. Young India should be informed of it. They are not anti-Hindutva as many of our Macaulay’s sons want to believe and seek to impress on BJP leadership. They need to be marginalised.

Why India needs the BJP

In a nation where most of the political parties are known by the names of their 'owners' turning the political process into a kind of family fiefdom, the existence of a party that still runs on democratic norms and represents a completely different ethos, must be valued as a need of the society. That is the Bharatiya Janata Party. It is useless to indulge in the contemporary dichotomies and scuffles that mar its current framework.

These are trivialities and have been a part of every political party, including the Jan Sangh that saw much bitter scenes involving top guns even when that was hardly as strong as its new avatar the BJP has become.

The basic question is -- do we have a future for a party that symbolises Hindu aspirations and civilisational rejuvenation through political instruments and acts as a part of a larger saffron brotherhood that has grown stronger by each year since its emergence in 1925?

Suppose if there was no Jan Sangh or the BJP there would have been no Kashmir movement, no demands to scrap two flags and two constitutional provisions for an Indian state and abolishing two Constitutional heads system for it. Who would have taken up the cause of an invincible Indian security and carried out the Pokaran II nuclear tests while preparing for Pokaran III?

The last millennium saw the foreign attacks on Bharat that is India and the target of these barbaric assaults were essentially the Hindu population and their temples. The truncated independence should have given them the highest freedom to flower and come to their own as a free and fearless nation would have honoured the great spirit of resistance that made Allama Iqbal write 'Kuch baat hai ki hasti mit-ti nahin hamaari (There is something extraordinary that we -- the civilisation -- survived centuries of assaults)'.

But after the massacres during Partition/independence in Calcutta, Noakhali, Muzaffarabad and Rawalpindi, Hindus got the secular marginalisation and a State apparatus that looked down at anything representing their age old-bruised ethos. That is why to uphold the dignity of being a Hindu and ensure equal attitude of the State for every citizen without any discrimination on the basis of caste or religion, the Jan Sangh was founded in 1951. The principles were unity in diversity, one nation, one culture and one people and justice to all, appeasement of none.

At the first all India session of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh, its founder president Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee had said, 'India has been for centuries past the homeland of diverse people pursuing different faiths and religions. The need to preserve and respect the personal laws of such people especially in matters of religion and fundamental social obligations is undoubted. In all matters concerning the rights and duties of citizenship as such, there must be complete equality for all. We must be able to carry all sections of the people with us by creating in their minds a healthy and progressive attitude of co-operation based on true equality of opportunity and mutual tolerance and understanding. Our party's door remains open to all who believe in our programme and ideology irrespective of considerations of caste and religion.'

'Our party,' he added, 'believes that the future progress of India must be based on a natural synthesis between its full economic advance and the development of mind and character of the people in accordance with the highest traditions of Indian culture and civilization. The political freedom that we have achieved will be meaningless without economic freedom. It is a tragedy that a vast country such as India, with its almost limitless resources and raw materials, should be steeped in poverty, disease, ignorance and degradation. Our party believes that without plunging the country into the vortex of violent chaos and conflict, it should be possible for us to readjust the conditions of our economic life so as to bring to an end a shameful era of exploitation and silent human suffering.'

Without mincing any words he declared, 'Our party though, ever prepared to extend its hand of equality to all citizens, does not feel ashamed to urge for the consolidation of Hindu society, nor does it suffer from an inferiority complex to acknowledge proudly that the great edifice of Indian culture and civilization, which had stood the test of thousands of years, has been built, most of all by the labour, sacrifice and wisdom of Hindu sages, savants and patriots throughout the chequered history of our motherland. We are not so mean as to forget that in this gigantic process our country came into contact and conflict with many foreign races and ideologies and our great ancestors had the courage to fashion and refashion the country's structure in accordance with new ideas and with the changed conditions of our society. If India's freedom is to be purposeful, a correct appreciation of the fundamental features of Indian culture -- the discovery of that unity in diversity, which is the keynote of her civilization -- is highly essential.'

These lengthy quotations are essential to understand the real purpose behind the BJP, which has accepted Dr Mookerjee and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya as its sources of inspiration showing the ideological path.

In pre-Partition days, the independence movement essentially drew from Hindu nationalist symbols and writings expressed through Mahatma Gandhi's Ram Rajya, Sri Aurobindo's Bhawani Bharati concept which saw India as Durga incarnate and declared Sanatan Dharma as the nationality of India, Vivekananda, Lokmanya Tilak, and Subhas Bose. They were all deeply Hindu spiritual personalities who espoused the cause of freedom, liberty, equality and democracy.

There was less ideological apartheid that we see today and newspapers like The Hindu and The Hindustan Times were not looked down just because they bore a word Hindu and parties like the Hindu Mahasabha, Ram Rajya Parishad etc were in the mainstream without experiencing any kind of 'ideological untouchability'.

It's only after Independence under the influence of Nehruvian left-to-centre policies that the assertive Hindus segment was sought to be humiliated and segregated.

In the contemporary political scene, the Congress, which once represented the federal liberal character of Hindu nationalist ideas advocating equality to all, has turned into a family oriented party where internal democratic process is completely subjugated to the wishes and whims of a supreme leader who also happens to be a family head. Except for the Communist parties and the BJP there is a hardly a party that is democratically run and controlled from the grassroot levels.

Hence, in spite of internal bickering and trivial issues cropping up, a party that was born post Independence representing a distinct ideology and programmes can only be a strengthening factor for democracy. Its amazing growth and power to rule the nation quite successfully have further added to its credibility. Those who oppose it must look at the fact sheet it has so far built -- giving India the best of the highways, an IT and technological revolution, best run states in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh [ Images ] and Chhattisgarh and above all a credible opposition that has a vast acceptability at an all India level, giving a pan India character to the polity.

The poet who wrote, 'Gagan mein laharta hai bhagwa hamara (The saffron flies high in the sky)' became the most admired prime minister, the first genuinely non-Congress one and his regime saw the best of relations with neighbours. Atal Bihari Vajpayee [ Images ] allowed Pokaran II, yet maintained better ties with the US, China and Pakistan without compromising on national interest.

This party has another distinct feature -- it can boast of a galaxy of national leaders who command a mass following unlike others who have none but their 'eternally elected' chiefs alone for the posters and platforms diminishing any second or third rank leadership.

And you don't have to belong to a family or a family's durbar to aspire for higher goals and posts in the party. Someone who was a village level worker and did his bit to gain acceptance could become party president and was never told, oh you don't have a particular last name hence can rise this far and no further.

Pardon me if in this context, to clarify a bit more, I recall a Q&A session I had in China where I was asked in a university by students – 'What's the use of your democracy if it can't deliver? See Bihar and Orissa and UP's rural areas and farmers suicides? We may not be having the democracy you like to ape from the West but our one party system is delivering fine.'

I was not surprised. The value of democracy can be understood only when you lose it after enjoying its fruits. I simply said, even with half filled stomachs and often self defeating noises, we prefer freedom more than a totalitarian regime guaranteeing prosperity to all.

Liberty can have no alternative. And that's exactly the most powerful factor that makes the BJP indefatigable and invincible. The party's inner core promises to rise like a Phoenix if the outer shell fails to translate the ideals it was born to achieve.

It may look a bit preposterous to say these high pedestal things when the party is making news not for some happy reasons. It is sad, but it will pass. The party is not built by those who were adherents of a family, but by those small yet strongly committed young hearts who built it on their shoulders because they shared a vision and a dream.

I have seen three generations working together, first for the Jan Sangh and then for its new avatar, the BJP. They never aspired to make it big in Delhi but from Silchar to Shimoga and Doda to Port Blair, they have been working. These workers are the strength of the party and not those who make big speeches and then wash dirty linen in the media. They must be powered and their moral needs to be boosted by a united commitment to principles leaders claim they accept.

Today these workers have emerged taller because they have lived the ideals espoused by Deen Dayal Upadhyaya who had merged his identity with the common cadre and lived by his principles through his own life's example. He gave the alternative ideology of integral humanism before the two alien ones namely capitalism and communism. That almost supplements and complements Gandhi's Hind Swarajya whose hundredth year is passing so unceremoniously in the raj of the 'Gandhis'.

It is this perfectly ideological rock of our civilisation represented by the BJP in politics that India needs fervently.

Jinnah Virus Distracts and Debilitates BJP

For a second time during the last four years Jinnah virus has struck the Bharatiya Janata Party. Greatly impressed by the success of Mohammed Ali Jinnah in carving out the Islamic State of Pakistan by ensuring division of India, almost single-handedly, some BJP leaders are bending backwards in praising Jinnah as a great ‘secular’ leader. Overwhelmed by ‘Jinnah virus’ and trying to outdo his senior colleague, L K Advani, in his latest book Jaswant Singh (a prominent BJP leader and former Foreign Affairs Minister in NDA government), has showered encomiums on Jinnah, while criticizing the murky role of Nehru and Gandhi in accepting partition of the country as a fait accompli. While this belated claim to wisdom by Jaswant Singh about greatness of the founder of Pakistan further bewildered the average middle class Hindu, the BJP was left with no option but to expel Jaswant Singh from the party due to his deliberate deviation from the ideology of BJP.

In June 2005 the then President of BJP, L.K. Advani, had praised Mohammed Ali Jinnah, as a secular leader during his visit to Pakistan, without verifying the facts. That controversial statement bestowing the halo of a “secular leader” on Jinnah was greatly resented by the Hindu masses. Ultimately it led to large scale criticism of Advani’s wrong perception and he had to step down from the office of BJP President.

Advani’s misadventure about Jinnah’s secular status was based on Pakistan’s Qaid-e Azam’s address to the Constituent Assembly on August 11, 1947, in which he had declared that “you are free to go to your mosques, or any other place of worship …… you may belong to any religion, caste or creed, that has nothing to do with the business of the state. You will find that in the course of time Hindus will cease to be Hindus and Muslims will cease to be Muslims, not in the religious sense ….. but in the political sense as citizens of the State”.

Apparently that statement was enough to make Advani conclude that Jinnah was indeed a secular democrat. The veteran leader did not care to check up the reasons which could have prompted Jinnah to make that most-unlike-Jinnah statement in the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan on August 11, 1947. Perhaps he relied too much on the advice and assessment of his aide, Sudheendra Kulkarni, yet another admirer of Jinnah, who had accompanied him. Advani just could not figure out that what Jinnah had pronounced on August 11, 1947, was nothing but mere posturing done on the advice of Lord Ismay who was the Chief of Staff of the then Governor General of India, Lord Mountbatten.

The inside story of Jinnah’s August 11, 1947, statement has been narrated by a distinguished Punjabi scholar, Dr. Kripal Singh, on page 740 of his book, Select Documents on Partition of India -1947 (India and Pakistan), published in 1990. As revealed by Dr. Kripal Singh, the advice to make such a statement was given by Lord Ismay to Jinnah, under specific instructions of Lord Mountbatten in order to douse the raging fire of communal violence across Pakistan at that time. It was a belated attempt to assure the Hindus and the Sikhs living in Pakistan about their safety, expressly made on the suggestion of Lord Mountbatten, the then Governor General of India. The sole aim of the August 11, 1947, statement was to check the spiralling communal violence in Pakistan which had already generated a violent reaction in East Punjab (India).

The fact that Jinnah had been prevailed upon to make such a statement was told to Dr. Kripal Singh by Lord Ismay himself. His aforesaid book contains interviews with Lord Attlee, the Prime Minister of U.K. in 1947, Sir Francis Mudie, the then Governor of Punjab and Sir Cyril Radcliffe, Chairman of the Boundary Commission who drew the final lines of the partitioned sub-continent. In an exclusive interview to TNS (Tribune News Service) Dr. Kripal Singh had disclosed that he had interviewed Lord Ismay on August 17, 1964, at his residence in U.K. Dr. Kripal Singh is a former Head of the Department of Historical Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala, and an euridite scholar and author of several books.

Every Indian, except perhaps Jaswant Singh, knows that Jinnah had repeatedly said that the Hindus and the Muslims cannot live together in India and had pompously declared in August 1946, “We shall have India divided or we shall have India destroyed”. He was a fundamentalist who was squarely responsible for organizing the great Calcutta killings on August 16, 1947, by giving a call for Direct Action to achieve the goal of Pakistan. Apparently the fast ageing BJP leaders like Jaswant Singh and Advani have forgotten that on July 27, 1946, while giving a call to Muslims for observing August 16, 1946, as Direct Action Day for achieving the goal of Pakistan, Jinnah spoke thus :

“The Muslims of India would not rest contented with anything less than the immediate establishment of independent and fully sovereign State of Pakistan. .. Now the time has come for the Muslim Nation to resort to Direct Action. We have taken a most historic decision. Never before in the whole history of the Muslim League did we do anything except by constitutional methods. Today we have said good-bye to constitutional methods. Throughout the painful negotiations the two parties with whom we bargain held a pistol at us - one with power and machine-guns behind it and the other with non-cooperation and the threat to launch mass civil disobedience. The situation must be met. We also have a pistol”.

That open declaration to defy the law had prompted Muslim League’s Mayor of Calcutta, Mohammed Usman, to give a call for jihad on August 16, 1946, by issuing an inflammatory leaflet titled “Munajat for Jihad”. On the Direct Action Day the city of Calcutta (now Kolkata) went through a grisly bloodbath which continued for several days a brief account of which has been given by Justice G.D. Khosla in his famous narrative, ‘The Stern Reckoning’. The total number of innocent citizens killed during the jihad unleashed by Muslim League on the Direct Action Day was estimated to be between 5,000 and 10,000. Subseqeuntly communal riots broke out in many parts of the country.

Thus Jinnah was never never ’secular’ in his outlook, much less in deed. Both Advani and Jaswant Singh appear to be suffering from age-related amnesia. How else could they forget that barely 10 weeks after Jinnah’s statement of August 11, 1946, Pakistan had invaded Jammu & Kashmir and let loose a horrendous campaign of murder, rape and pillage against unsuspecting hapless people? At that time Jinnah was very much alive (he died only in September 1948) and no one can deny that the Kashmir invasion was launched with his approval as Governor General of Pakistan.

Apparently the two BJP leaders never ever cared to ascertain the truth behind Jinnah’s deceptive statement made in Pakistan’s Constituent Assembly on 11th August 1947. What made Jinnah issue the so-called “secular statement” on August 11, 1947, has been clarified by Dr. Kripal Singh, as stated above. In essence that statement of Jinnah was nothing but recourse to ‘Taqiyah’, a convenient Islamic tool for befooling the so-called ‘kaffirs’.

Going far beyond what Advani had stated in June 2005, in a TV interview Jaswant Singh claimed that the widespread opinion in India that Jinnah was anti-Hindu was mistaken, and that he was unfairly demonized. The tall leader failed to explain why Jinnah did not try to prevent the massive ethnic cleansing of Hindus from Pakistan, why did he not raise even a small finger to save the lives and properties of lakhs of Hindus trapped in Pakistan?

Giving further twist to his love for Jinnah, during a TV interview by Karan Thapar, Jaswant Singh bemoaned, “Look into the eyes of the Muslims who live in India and if you truly see their pain with which they live, to which land do they belong? We treat them as aliens ….. without doubt Muslims have paid the price of partition”. It is difficult, nay impossible, to comprehend why Jaswant Singh does not realize that the real price of partition was paid by crores of Hindus and Sikhs who were killed, converted and driven out from Pakistan and Bangladesh (formerly known as East Pakistan). How can he be so insensitive to the ethnic cleansing of Hindus and Sikhs from Pakistan, Bangladesh and even from Kashmir, an important part of our bogus secular political dispensation?

Surely Jaswant Singh cannot be oblivious of the fact Hindu population in Pakistan has come down from 23% in 1947 to less than 2% now, and in Bangladesh it has dwindled from 27% in 1947 to a meager 8%. And in Kashmir valley there are hardly any Hindus left now, except government servants ! Yet Jaswant Singh’s heart bleeds only for Muslims - nary a tear did he shed for millions of ethnically Hindus and Sikhs. What hypocrisy, what poor scholarship ?

It is extraordinary that Jaswant Singh does not know that in four globally recognized human development indices, namely, the Infant Mortality, Child Mortality, Degree of Urbanisation and Life Expectancy at Birth the Muslims of India are better placed than the Hindus, and that according to a survey conducted in 2005 by the Centre for Studies of Developing Studies, New Delhi, at the all India level the proportion of “very poor” people is higher among Hindus than among Muslims.

The untruthful book of Jaswant Singh and his interviews to the media are indeed classic examples of poor scholarship. No wonder, Jaswant Singh has been expelled from the BJP. The lesson is that book writing is a serious academic pursuit. It should not be taken as a casual exercise, even by the tallest politicians.

No human rights for Hindus abroad?

“Government has not sent Indian students to Australia or to Canada or to UK; they went there themselves by their own choice. Anyway, there are many Indians in many countries and the Government is NOT responsible for whatever happens to them there every time.” You thought that was a comment by an Australian Government’s representative? NO. This is a comment on the TV Channels by a State Minister of External Affairs, Government of India. He also happened to have enjoyed a high level global diplomatic position before and after losing the highest level election there, suddenly remembered Indian roots and contested on a ruling party’s ticket. It is not important what any person has been before he / she joins the government as minister or how many fancy haircuts he has had or how many coffee table books he has written; it is significant as to WHAT VIEWS and VALUES, he/she carries as India’s Minister about things that happen to and hurt India and Indians anywhere.


The point is that from Malaysia to Indonesia, from Canada to UK, from US to Australia, from Bhutan to Nepal and from Sri Lanka to Pakistan… and many other countries, Indians are being beaten up, man handled, killed, taken hostage, looted, discriminated with and what not. Twenty-seven attacks on Indian students in Australia were reported in Indian media, India was shocked and then realised to her utter pain that this number was just an iceberg. There have been more than 600 such attacks in past 3 years on Indians in Australia and by the locals there- it does not matter whether the attackers were native Australians or sheltered Lebanese. The attacks on Indians happened on the Australian soil and therefore the Australian Government must protect the Indian students and professionals there- not because Australia earns millions out of them, but because Australia claims to be secular.


As much as Australia, even the Indian Government is to blame for continuous racist attacks of such heinous types on Indians in many countries – sometimes even with the obvious goal of Ethnic Cleansing as in Malaysia, Sri Lanka etc. The comment given in the beginning is not just mere words; it shows the apathy of those sitting in the government towards well-being of millions of Indians staying, studying, working abroad. Strangely, even in this inbuilt apathy, Indian Government seems to be showing extra love & choice for certain religions when it comes to helping an Indian in trouble abroad. India has yet not forgotten Indian PM’s tears for Haneef after seeing his pregnant wife speaking to media.


Haneef was arrested on the charges of terrorism. Whether they were true or false, the haste PM showed to send top lawyers’ team to help him. There was quite shocking on the background the great apathy and indifference shown to Mr. Kutty who was abducted by Talibans in Afghanistan or even the disgusting level of indifference shown to the horrible plight of Indian students in Australia as barring 1 or 2, the people who were hurt were either Hindus or Sikhs. We have to blame Australia for their show-case secularism but what about Indian Government’s Selective Secularism?


It is not that our government’s apathy and indifference are recent . For the last many decades Hindus in Sri Lanka have been struggling to stay alive there. What has been happening to them is nothing less than Ethnic Cleansing and state sponsored terrorism. From suppressing the true figures of the dead in the blanket bombarding on Hindu civilians to preventing food & medicines from reaching the ill, hurt Hindus even recently, Sri Lanka could do all such brutality in broad day light only due to various Indian Governments’ apathy. About 400,000+ Hindus displaced, at least 1/8 of it have been massacred, children and young women abducted, old and ill suffering.


In Bhutan over 150,000 Hindus suffered brutal Ethnic Violence in the hands of state sponsored terrorists. Those Hindus ran away to Nepal where they were again harassed. Now The United Nations has been shifting them to other countries like Canada etc – disturbing their livelihood and making them forfeit their ancestral properties in Bhutan and on the condition that they convert. No. Indian Government will not move a finger on this as their names are NOT Haneef, Naushad etc. They are Shyam, Ram, Mohan, Arjun….


Same thing happened in Malaysia. Not just breaking ancient Hindu temples, but officially Muslim Malaysian Government have been killing, displacing Hindus there. They try to defend themselves without any help from Indian Government. Organisations like VHP or many other may have will to help but without political will, no organisation gets teeth. Hindus in Malaysia are not migrants; they are natives there. They have ancient temples, lands, properties, farms, businesses there dating even before the official religion of Malaysia was even born! But now they are being chased out same as it happened to Kashmiri Hindus in our own country. Same is happening in Indonesia, Kenya and where not!




This is not a complaint; this is an appeal from the bottom of a Hindu heart to all well-meaning Hindus all over the globe to wake up and get Indian Government woken up to the bitter and horrifying fact that if it continues like this, there will be many more Barak Hussein Obamas who would hate Indians not just for their intellect and hard work, but who may even resort to state sponsored terrorism against Hindus in many countries after using them to get those nations’ businesses networked and flourished.


If there is any Hindu suicide as it has been happening recently in the US, UK, Canada or if there is any more Hindu battering in Australia or in Malaysia or in Sri Lanka, it is the full responsibility of Indian Government. Mass exodus of Indians from many countries will start any moment – which has already started from Sri Lanka, from US, from UK… - THEN IT ALSO HURTS EVERY INDIAN BACK HOME. EVERY INDIAN GETS TEARS IN HIS EYES BY SEEING HINDU PLIGHT IN MANY OF THESE COUNTRIES. So, at least the Indian PM should realise that the democratic price for every Hindu Tear is quite high to pay. Those who speak of Human Rights and shout in Indian and western ‘Genocide Genocide’ when even one Haneef type’s wife is seen crying on TV, must sit up as Hindus KNOW that they have to get not only their BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS but also THEIR FIRST RIGHT ON THE RESOURCES OF THEIR COUNTRY AND THE EQUAL RIGHT ON THE RESOURCES THEY CREATE IN ANY COUNTRY.


Hindu Organisations try their best to reduce suffering of most Hindus impacted by such ethnic violence, racist brutality and socio-political discrimination. But the damage is vast, time is short & resourceful hands are limited. It is time for Hindus to RE-GROUP, RE-NETWORK and RE-SURGE to stand up democratically against any justice.

Forked Tongues of Our "Secular" Edit Writers

LETTER TO INDIAN EXPRESS




Dear Sir,

Reference your edit " Independence in Academia" - (TNIE - 21 AUG).


In your usual "Nehruvian secular" style you wax eloquent on a Muslim girl being prevented from wearing the burqa while attending college. That wearing the burqa is an "Islamic statement" is well known, except probably to the Indian seculars!!


Islamic scriptures, especially the Hadits state this explicitly. If only your edit writers widened their knowledge and read Ibn Warraq's " Why I am not a Muslim " , probably - - - -!!


For the record, to cite just one example, among a host of others. Dr. Kalim Siddiqui, the founding President of the British Muslim Parliament, speaking at the Sixth Conference of European Muslims on 18-19 April 1992 said: " When we walk down in the street, we are just a face in the crowd. But when a woman wears a 'HIJAB', she is carrying the flag of Islam. She is making a statement: that this European civilization is unacceptable to us, that it is a disease, a pestilence on mankind."

In the Indian context, for 'European Civilization', Read: "Sanatana Dharma". Am I off the mark Sir?

But I digress. In a hard hitting Article in a popular website, Dr.Hilda Raja, a Christian and a former professor at the Stella Maris College, Chennai, entitled: "Bible classes and
the right to freedom" , wrote: " When Hindu students are compelled to attend Bible classes,it is coercion and force: It means denying them their right to FREEDOM. This has to stop: the compulsory Bible classes for Hindu students. It has been quietly going on in every Christian school. In Tamil Nadu, I am aware that in schools run by the minorities, it is again the same story - all have to attend daily Christian prayers. They are even taken to the nearby church for prayers. When the school celebrates Mass on feast days all children have to attend. The schools are government-aided and I do not see why this is allowed. On the other hand, Hindu private institutions cannot compel children to attend Hindu instructions. This has been allowed to go on unquestioned for too long."


Continuing, she wrote: " Today with communalism based on creed invading every aspect of people’s lives, Christian schools, evangelists, both missionary and career ones, are geared up with their crusading propaganda. The political scenario is best suited to their insidious designs. Being a Christian/Muslim is being secular; anything associated with Christian and Muslim teachings and propaganda means the spread of secularism. Anything associated with Hindu religion and its religious teachings becomes communal-Hindutva. Hence madrasas are being financed by taxpayer money, and that is secularism. Minority education institutions are aided - full salaries of staff and their pensions are State financed."


And then, she writes - SACRILEGE IN SECULAR EYES!! :

" Here in Gujarat, my grandchildren are attending a school, Nalanda, wherein an Indian ethos is well maintained, be it in its curriculum, co-curriculum and extra-curriculum activities. No religious instruction is being imparted, but the school environ speaks. Such schools must be opened are in high demand because of their efficiency and dedication to learning."
